Who’s ready to watch their favorite TV actors and creatives give virtual acceptance speeches?
The 2020 Emmys will officially be a remote awards show, kicking off what will almost positively be a bizarre and straight up weird awards season as the coronavirus pandemic continues. The show, which is being hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, sent out letters to the recent Emmy nominees informing them that no, they don’t have to worry about showing up to an event in person this year. Instead, according to the letter, the virtual show’s “informal theme for the night is ‘come as you are, but make an effort!'” But thankfully, it sounds like the producers are taking steps to make sure the ceremony doesn’t look like just another average Zoom call.

Last night brought the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards to FOX, and well, we’re just glad that the awards and acceptance speeches were remarkable, because the broadcast of television’s biggest night wasn’t super enjoyable. Without a host, the show felt nearly lifeless, and the few moments of entertainment came from a handful of presenters and the wonderful, consistent, and silly presence of Thomas Lennon. But we’ll get to that later.
Despite the disappointing broadcast of the 2019 Emmys last night, there were still some highlights to be found from the show, especially from the speeches, not to mention a few surprises among the award recipients, and several television records broken and set. So let’s get down to the finer points of the 2019 Emmys broadcast from last night. Read More »

The 68th Annual Emmy Awards aired on ABC last night where Game of Thrones and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story took home several big awards, with a variety of other shoes getting some trophies as well. But one show that wasn’t vying for any awards last night was Stranger Things. Don’t worry, it’s not because the show wasn’t nominated, but rather because it debuted after the window for eligibility for this year’s awards. There’s a good chance it will get some nominations next year though.
But just because Stranger Things wasn’t nominated for any awards last night doesn’t mean the show didn’t have a presence at the awards. Before the opening of the Emmy ceremony with host Jimmy Kimmel featured an easter egg from the show, three of the child stars from Stranger Things took the stage (off the air) to sing a rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” to the crowd. Thankfully, someone was able to record the adorable musical number. Plus, Kimmel utilized the kids for a fun gag during the ceremony.

Last night ABC’s late night host Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 68th Annual Emmy Awards, and he made the typically long-running ceremony a little more tolerable with his quick wit. As is customary for the show’s host, Kimmel partook in a fun opening number that saw him meeting up with some familiar faces from the world of television, all of which were nominated in some form for the awards handed out throughout the night.
After the jump, watch Jimmy Kimmel do some carpool karaoke with James Corden, hitch a ride with a certain modern family, run into a a TV president and even ride a dragon in the 2016 Emmy opening. As a bonus, you can also watch Matt Damon showing up during the ceremony to mock Jimmy Kimmel for losing the Emmy he was nominated for last night. Read More »
Last night, the 68th Annual Emmy Awards handed out trophies to some of the best talents working in television today. Broadcast live on ABC, the 2016 Emmys really showed off their diversity, not only with their large roster of presenters, but also with those who took home awards last night.
The show’s host Jimmy Kimmel said at the top of the show that if your show didn’t have a dragon or a white Bronco in it, you should just go home, and the winners pretty much made that true. American Crime Story: The People v O.J. Simpson took home some big awards along with Game of Thrones, but shows like Master of None, Transparent, Veep and Saturday Night Live got plenty of love too.
