With apologies to my loved ones, the best Christmas gift I got last year was the Sense8 holiday special. It had been over a year since the first season hit Netflix, and the two-hour extravaganza had everything I’d hoped for from the return — drama, action, romance, tons of earnest metaphysical nonsense, and, yes, even a meticulously choreographed orgy. Best of all, it heralded the arrival of even more episodes to come in the new year, with Sense8 season 2 scheduled to hit in May.
Of course, May’s still a ways away. But Netflix isn’t leaving us completely high and dry. They’ve just dropped a big batch of Sense8 season 2 images, teasing more good times, more bad times, and lots of sweet cluster meetings that are probably going to make me cry. Netflix comes bearing gifts. Whether they’re wanted or unwanted gifts, though, will depend on your tolerance for Lana and Lilly Wachowski and J. Michael Straczynski‘s brand of metaphysical sci-fi insanity. The streaming service has officially announced that a Sense8 Christmas special will drop later this month, just as we suspected. Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Sens8, the upcoming Netflix sci-fi drama series from Andy and Lana Wachowski and J. Michael Straczynski, has a cast, and we can also tell you a bit about the plot. The show, which will run 10 episodes, was originally described only as “a gripping global tale of minds linked and souls hunted.” Now we know that Naveen Andrews (Lost), Daryl Hannah, and Brian J. Smith (Stargate Universe) will feature in the large ensemble cast. In addition to that trio, the show features almost another dozen primary names in it’s diverse cast. Read More »

The last Jupiter Ascending trailer got mixed reviews when it hit in December, with some folks rolling their eyes at the sci-fi cliches and others enchanted by the Wachowskis‘ creativity and ambition. Today a new Japanese promo has hit for the epic adventure, and while it won’t change any skeptical minds, those who loved the last one will probably be thrilled to see more.
Mila Kunis stars as the Jupiter of the title, a lowly cleaning lady down on Earth. Her life is forever changed when she’s tracked down by an albino wolf-man from outer space (Channing Tatum), because that tends to happen when one is tracked down by an albino wolf-man from outer space. Hit the jump to watch the new trailer.
