Apple just scooped up Cherry, the first movie from the Russo Brothers since Avengers: Endgame, and the Russo’s first non-superhero movie in a long, long time. The project reunites them with Tom Holland, who plays a war vet with PTSD who becomes a bank robber. It’s based on the novel by Nico Walker, which is in part based on Walker’s true story (he’s a US Army veteran currently serving time in prison for bank robbery).

Almost all the news about movies nowadays is about release dates being pushed back due to the shutdown of production during the coronavirus pandemic and also the closure of nearly all movie theaters around the United States. Marvel Studios recently made some big changes to their schedule over the next couple years, but apparently that wasn’t enough. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been pushed back again, this time into the spring of 2022, and Spider-Man 3 has shifted too. While many movies and TV shows are halting production and some of the spring’s biggest blockbuster movies are being delayed as the threat of the coronavirus pandemic spreads, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are still hoping they’ll be able to begin production on Spider-Man 3 this summer.
Spider-Man franchise star Tom Holland recently confirmed that production on the still untitled sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home is looking to begin production in July. That’s still a good few months away, but depending on how things play out with the coronavirus concerns, that schedule could end up being in jeopardy.
