The Empire Strikes Back without music

One of the best things about a new Star Wars movie coming this winter is that we’re also getting an entirely new feature length score from legendary composer John Williams. However, for fans who were hoping to hear the music he wrote far in advance of the movie’s release, we have some potentially bad news.

A press release from Walt Disney Records went out today announcing that the Star Wars: The Force Awakens score won’t be available for purchase until the movie is in theaters this holiday season. Read More »

remote conrolled BB-8

Ever since the little ball droid known as BB-8 was revealed in the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fans were hoping that the franchise that has mastered the art of merchandising would be releasing a remote controlled BB-8 toy for fans to play with at home. And their hopes have become realities.

Not one, but two remote controlled BB-8 toys are coming on Force Friday, and we have a good look at the two different options you’ll have to choose between. They’re both relatively pricey for toys, but they just might be worth it, especially the more expensive version, which comes from Sphero, the company that helped create BB-8 in the first place. This weekend, Disney and Lucasfilm unleash an onslaught of Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise into stores around the world with a little event they’ve called Force Friday, which will be preceded by an 18-hour unboxing live stream of tons of goodies hitting shelves for Star Wars fans.

There’s no doubt that people are going to spend tons of money on this stuff, whether it’s for themselves or for their kids, and a new report unsurprisingly indicates Disney will make quite the pretty penny on all this. But the real surprise is just how much these sales will total in a single year. Read More »

The Force Awakens alien characters

We’re just four days away from Force Friday, the huge unveiling of goodies that continues to fuel the hype machine for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a day which will be preceded by an 18-hour live streaming unboxing event. And while it seemed like we had seen a majority of the toys that will be sold, and therefore all the characters they’ll introduce, it appears there are still some new items to see.

BB-8 Sounds

Even though Star Wars: The Force Awakens isn’t out until December 18th, some fans have already decided that their new favorite character is the adorable little ball droid known as BB-8. The character debuted in the first teaser for the film, rolling across a desert service, its little motor whirring as it moved as quick as it could. However, we’ve yet to here what the little droid actually sounds like.

A new commercial for Star Wars LEGO sets for The Force Awakens features some quick animation specifically one part with the little droid running from Kylo Ren and some First Order Stormtroopers where we get to hear what BB-8 sounds like for the first time. Check it out below! Read More »

The Big Bang Theory The Force Awakens

The entire world will slowly be overtaken by Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the film’s December 18th release gets closer. Fans of the saga and plenty of average filmgoers can’t wait to see what Episode VII offers, and that also stands true for the fictional characters of The Big Bang Theory who are obsessed with everything from a galaxy far, far away.

The CBS comedy series, returning in the fall for its ninth season, will indeed be impacted by the release of the new Star Wars movie, and executive producer Steve Molaro confirms that they’re trying to figure out how the impending release of The Force Awakens will be weaved into Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Howard (Simon Helberg) and Raj’s (Kunal Nayyar) lives.

The Empire Strikes Back trailer recut

Yesterday brought some brief new footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens yesterday, featuring the first footage of John Boyega wielding a lightsaber (specifically the lightsaber that was Anakin Skywalker’s, passed down to Luke Skywalker by Obi-Wan Kenobi).

But today we have a fanmade trailer for one of the movies from the original trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back. YouTube user Dan Flesher has cut a modern trailer for Episode V, using the same music, cuts and cues from the second teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s an extremely well-done edit that uses footage from the movie we all know in a cool teasing way. It makes me wish I could watch Star Wars all over again without knowing anything about it.
