Even though all the attention will be on Beauty and the Beast this weekend, those who may not be interested in a live-action adaptation of an animated musical might take solace in the wild violence of The Belko Experiment.
Written by James Gunn and directed by Wolf Creek helmer Greg McLean, the action thriller takes place at a not-for-profit company in Colombia where the employees find themselves suddenly faced with the task of killing each other, or else risk being killed themselves. We’ve seen a red band trailer in all its bloody glory, and now you can see it recreated with the magic of stop-motion animation, LEGO pieces and some red Play-doh.

Greg McLean‘s (Wolf Creek) new thriller, The Belko Experiment, turns co-workers into animals. Written by James Gunn — who is busy with post-production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 — the story is a dark, bloody, and violent office comedy. One day, the heads of a non-profit company decide they need 30 employees instead of 80, so they trap their workers, provide them with a deadly ultimatum, and turn them loose on each other.
Below, watch The Belko Experiment trailer.

James Gunn has spent most of 2016 keeping his head down and working hard, but he’ll be back in the spotlight next year with a couple of exciting new releases. One, you surely already know about — we’ve been talking about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 since the moment credits rolled on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 — but the other is just starting its marketing push now.
The Belko Experiment is a lean, mean thriller written and produced by Gunn and directed by Greg McLean (Wolf Creek), starring 10 Cloverfield Lane‘s John Gallagher Jr. as one of many office workers who are trapped together and forced to kill or be killed. Other potential victims / murderers are played by Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Adria Arjona, John C. McGinley, Tony Goldwyn, David Dastmalchian, Melonie Diaz, and Josh Brener. The first The Belko Experiment trailer has just been released, and you can watch it below. Read More »
While many are looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, before that we’ll get a chance to see another film that director James Gunn worked on as a writer before getting behind the camera of the Marvel Studios sequel.
The Belko Experiment is scripted by James Gunn but directed by Wolf Creek helmer Greg McLean, and it takes the intensity of The Hunger Games or Battle Royale and throws it into an every day office. Sure, you may have fantasized about unleashing fury on one of your co-workers after they took the last donut, but given the opportunity, would you actually be able to kill them? That’s the dilemma that will be faced by the employees in The Belko Experiment teaser that just debuted. Read More »

James Gunn has been tied up with Marvel movies for the past couple of years, but somewhere in there, he found the time to write and produce The Belko Experiment. Greg McLean, the Aussie filmmaker behind the nasty Wolf Creek films, takes the helm, and the result is a simple, entertaining horror-thriller that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Read More »

Yesterday the Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director took to Facebook to post a long list of answers to your most frequently asked questions about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. The posting is blunt and hilarious, but also informative for those of you who don’t follow all the responses that Gunn regularly gives followers on Twitter. The Daily Mail spotted Benicio Del Toro sporting what appears to be the hairpiece he wore for his role as Taneleer Tivan aka The Collector from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. According to the British newspaper, Del Toro was filming scenes for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 in Los Angeles. Is The Collector in Guardians of the Galaxy 2? I don’t believe this to be the case.
