BBC America’s Orphan Black has quite the sprawling cast. There’s Sarah and her countless clone sisters, each of whom brings her own entourage of supporting characters; there are various antagonists and allies who weave in and out of the show; and as of this past season, there’s even a whole line of boy clones with all the extra baggage that entails. Orphan Black fans have been saying for years that Tatiana Maslany should be a much bigger star than she is, and it seems Hollywood is finally listening. Earlier this year she snagged her first Emmy nom for the series, and now she’s in early negotiations for Stronger, Lionsgate’s Boston Marathon bombing drama starring Jake Gyllenhaal. David Gordon Green is directing.

How do you feel about seeing Tatiana Maslany from Orphan Black in a Star Wars movie? She’s been rumored for a role in the past (in Rogue One, which ultimately went to Felicity Jones), and now she’s one of three names on a shortlist of young women who are reportedly in contention for a primary role in Star Wars Episode VIII.

Update: This list may only feature two people now, as Olivia Cooke has reportedly been cast in Ready Player One. (Story on that forthcoming.) Gareth Edwards has begun testing actresses for a lead role in his 2016 Star Wars standalone movie. There’s no word what the role is but The Hollywood Reporter reports Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany, Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara, and recent Oscar nominee Felicity Jones are all testing for a part in the film.

It’s easy to get jaded about Comic-Con. The food is terrible, the lines are long, and the panels can be hit-or-miss. But every year, there are a few moments that make you drop your cynicism and remember what makes it magical.
One of this year’s unexpected highlights came during the Orphan Black Comic-Con panel, when a fan stepped up to share a very personal story about how the show had helped ease her coming-out to her family.
