The marketing so far for The Girl in the Spider’s Web have been all about the titular “Girl,” Lisbeth Salander, played in this latest film by The Crown‘s Claire Foy. It’s a smart move, since the role originated by Noomi Rapace in the Swedish films and Rooney Mara in David Fincher’s acclaimed U.S. remake has left big boots to fill for the Emmy-nominated actress.
But the newest The Girl in the Spider’s Web trailer finally introduces us to Lisbeth’s complex web of allies, including the familiar journalist Mikael Blomkvist, played by an unfamiliar face.

Sony Pictures continues to fill out the cast of The Girl in the Spider’s Web, their relaunch of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo franchise, with some impressive talent.
The Crown star Claire Foy is already locked down in the lead role of hacker Lisbeth Salander, and Swedish actor Sverrir Gudnason is playing her journalist companion Mikael Blomkvist. Now the film has landed Get Out and Death Note star Lakeith Stanfield in a key role, and Blade Runner 2049 co-star Sylvia Hoeks as well. Read More »

Deadpool‘s record-breaking box office guaranteed a sequel, and while we’ve yet to learn when exactly we might see that sequel we’re starting to get a better idea of its shape. A couple of months ago we heard the character Domino might join the Merc with a Mouth on his next outing. Today a new report reveals which actresses could play her. Among the names on the shortlist are Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lizzy Caplan, and Sienna Miller.

The idea of a Blade Runner sequel is bound to make any fan feel nervous — and considering it’s one of the most revered sci-fi films of all time, that’s a lot of anxious fans. But hiring Denis Villeneuve as director did a lot to turn that concern into curiosity, and smart casting choices have only added to the excitement.
