Last week, we reported on an as-yet-untitled documentary about South Park that would be airing on Comedy Central October 2, days ahead of the show’s October 5 return. We now have a bit more detail on what, exactly, the special will be about. According to Playbill (via Collider), the documentary will be:

an all-access pass to the behind-the-scenes world of creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone at South Park Studios in Los Angeles through this special documentary, providing an exclusive, insiders look into the making of a ‘South Park’ episode.

The documentary is apparently part of a year-long celebration of the series to mark its 15th anniversary. Other components of the celebration include the “South Park Fan Experience” at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, a traveling exhibit curated by artist Ron English, and limited-edition South Park-branded merchandise.

After the jump, lots of TV marketing: posters for Boardwalk Empire and Person of Interest, plus a poster and an intriguingly creepy teaser for American Horror Story.

We’ve already teased you with info from one J.J. Abrams produced show that’s set to premiere on TV this Fall, the Fox series Alcatraz. But Abrams isn’t stopping there. He’s also got a show on CBS that’s from the people behind The Dark Knight, Lost and even The Passion of the Christ. The show is called Person of Interest and if your a regular reader of the site, you know we’re excited about it. It stars Michael Emerson (Ben Linus from Lost) and Jim Caviezel (Jesus from The Passion of the Christ) as a New York crime fighting team that uses advanced technology to stop crimes before they happen. Think Law and Order meets Minority Report. It’s co-executive produced, and written by, Jonah Nolan who wrote The Dark Knight along with his brother (Christopher Nolan, maybe you’ve heard of him) and will begin airing Thursday nights at 9 p.m. this Fall.

Usually, news of someone being cast in a TV pilot isn’t particularly exciting. There’s no guarantee that the show will ever get picked up and we may never even get a chance to see it. There are exciting exceptions, however. Instances like when one of the biggest TV stars of the last decade decides to return to the small screen, or the most iconic female superhero gets cast or, J.J. Abrams and Christopher Nolan’s brother Jonah Nolan lock in the lead of their show.

Person of Interest, about an assumed-to-be-dead-CIA officer who gets hired by a New York billionaire to solve crimes, will be top lined by Jim Caviezel, best known for his role in Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ. He’ll round out a cast that includes Oscar-nominee Taraji P. Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and Emmy-winner Michael Emerson (Lost).

In more TV pilot casting news, Saw and Princess Bride star Cary Elwes will join the aforementioned pilot for Wonder Woman. Read more each project after the break. Read More »

Annette Haywood-Carter, a former script supervisor who jumped to directing (Foxfire, with a young Angelina Jolie, for instance), is preparing to shoot the period drama Savannah in the Georgia town of the same name, and has secured the final pieces of the film’s cast. Jim Caviezel and Chiwetel Ejiofor have joined Bradley Whitford, Jaimie Alexander, Jack McBrayer and Hal Holbrook. Read More »

AMC has been on a roll recently. They may be new to the original content game, but after only two TV shows (Mad Men and Breaking Bad), they’ve already proven themselves to be worthy competitors of HBO and Showtime. Their next endeavor, a remake of the classic 1960s TV show The Prisoner, looks only to further this trend. But what else would you expect from a series that features such immensely talented actors as Ian Mckellen and Jim Caviezel?

The Prisoner Television Teaser

Earlier this week, AMC dropped a teaser for the channel’s upcoming remake of the classic Patrick McGoohan ITV series The Prisoner. I’ve been curious about how this would look, not to mention why exactly it’s being made, and the teaser at least gives an indication of the aesthetic. The six episode mini-series, which premieres in November, stars Jim Caviezel in Patrick McGoohan’s role as Number Six, and Ian McKellen as Number Two. See the teaser after the jump. Read More »
