Escape Plan 3 Trailer

Sylvester Stallone has found a certain amount of success reviving the Rocky franchise with Michael B. Jordan as the new leading man, Adonis Creed. But he still can’t help but make some crummy action movies on the side. Case in point: there’s an Escape Plan 3 on the way this summer, and just like Escape Plan 2: Hades, this one isn’t even bothering to play in theaters.

Following a path similar to the second film, Escape Plane: The Extractors finds Ray Breslin (Stallone) breaking into a prison to rescue to rescue the kidnapped daughter of a Hong Kong tech mogul from a formidable Latvian prison. Escape Plan The Extractors trailer

Somehow, when we weren’t looking, Escape Plan became a franchise. The original film teamed up action movie legends Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger for the very first time. It was fine! That was followed by a Schwarzenegger-less sequel,Escape Plan 2: Hades. Now, here comes Escape Plan: The Extractors. It was a mild surprise when we learned Sylvester Stallone was going to star in an Escape Plan sequelMikael Håfström‘s light thriller underperformed in the States, making only around $25 million, but it made over $100 million overseas. It was enough of an international hit to bring back everybody’s favorite escape artist, Ray Breslin (Stallone), back for another round. Stallone is in good company with the sequel, too, as he’s now being joined by Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy).

Escape Plan 2

The prospect of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone teaming up would have been something truly exciting in the 1990s. Sadly, the film that brought them together, Escape Plan, didn’t hit theaters until 2013. And while it was a modest success that pulled in $137 million worldwide, it certainly didn’t live up to what fans hoped to see from seeing these guys leading a movie together. But that’s not stopping Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films and Lionsgate Premiere from putting together a sequel.

Though Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger have teamed up in the past, it’s never been like this. The first trailer for their October action film Escape Plan has just come online and it features the icons as foes turned friends who team up to escape the world’s most inescapable prison.

Briefly: Lionsgate/Summit has given new dates to two Sylvester Stallone films. The first is Sly’s latest team-up with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Once called The Tomb, the picture is now titled Escape Plan, and the studio has bounced it from September 13 of this year to October 18. On the new date, it will go up against are Carrie, Don Jon and Seventh Son.

Escape Plan is directed by Mikael Håfström, and follows a security expert (Stallone) who must escape a high-tech prison built to his own specifications. Schwarzenegger plays an inmate in the high-tech, secret facility, and the cast also features Jim Caviezel, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Vinnie Jones, Vincent D’Onofrio and Amy Ryan.

Meanwhile, we don’t know for certain whether or not Schwarzenegger will end up alongside Stallone, Jason Statham, Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich in The Expendables 3, but we do know the release date: August 15, 2014. Patrick Hughes (Red Hill) will direct when the sequel goes into production late this summer.
