When I was a kid I was fascinated with those choose your own adventure books, but every time I actually bought one I became disappointed with the lack of actual control the reader has on a story. I remember my local movie theater installing the EDGE ride system, which would occasionally feature a short film that would allow the audience members to choose the direction the characters would go with a remote built into the seats. Again, the result was disappointing and that ride system quickly vanished from my beloved multiplex.
Chris Lund has created a choose your adventure zombie film called The Outbreak, and released it online. I can’t say that it’s that much better than the choose your own adventure books from my childhood, but I love the concept that indie filmmakers are now able to explore these kind of interactive options. Watch the trailer after the jump or check out the film for yourself at SurviveTheOutbreak.com.
