Bumblebee may not have earned the buzz it deserved at U.S. box offices, but the Transformers prequel is seeing major success internationally. A Bumblebee sequel is reportedly in the works at Paramount following its international success, which could get even more fuel when it opens in Japan in March.

To promote their growing grocery pick-up service, the megastore utilized some of film and television’s most famous vehicles in an advertisement where the Batmobile from Justice League, the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters, the Jurassic Park Ford Explorer, the DeLorean time machine from Back to the Future, Lightning McQueen from Cars, and more are speeding to Walmart to pick-up their groceries.

Bumblebee Deleted Scenes

The Transformers spin-off Bumblebee hit theaters just before Christmas. While the film certainly didn’t bomb at the box office, debuting in the #3 spot, it’s having some trouble matching up to the success that Aquaman and Mary Poppins Returns have had on the charts. That’s a real shame, especially since this is easily the best film in the Transformers franchise, and a big part of that achievement comes from taking a step back from the Michael Bay movies.

Some new Bumblebee details reveal that the spin-off did everything they could to distance themselves from what Michael Bay brought to the Transformers movies and give fans something that felt new and refreshing. The changes made between a test screening of the movie and the final cut that ended up in theaters actually got rid of several details that would have linked the movie to the original Transformers movies much more. weekend box office aquaman

The final weekend of 2018 came and went, and Aquaman continued to sit at the top of the box office. January tends to be a dumping ground for studios, so it’s unlikely that James Wan’s submerged superhero will be washed away anytime soon – unless audiences really get a craving for Escape Room. The rest of the weekend box office remained predictable: Mary Poppins Returns held on at second, and Bumblebee is stuck at third.  Read More »

But there was one single character that was explicitly forbidden from appearing in Bumblebee. Sorry for being intentionally mysterious, but saying this character isn’t in Bumblebee might be considered a spoiler for some sensitive fans out there. So if you want to find out, keep reading. bumblebee early screenings

(Welcome to The Soapbox, the space where we get loud, feisty, political, and opinionated about anything and everything. In this edition: they finally made a Transformers movie that doesn’t suck.)

Bumblebee is good. There is now a Transformers movie that doesn’t suck.

That would have seemed shocking a couple of years ago, when the five-film series boasted not a single legitimately decent entry, but did have multiple compelling candidates for Worst Blockbuster Ever. But Paramount made some great decisions, coming out of the Michael Bay years. Bumblebee is a testament to the power of hiring good talent – in this case, talent who turned in a movie 180 degrees removed from Bay’s quintet of incoherent, sociopathic disasters.

Blumblebee clip new

Almost everyone who has seen it seems to agree that Bumblebee is indeed the best Transformers movie (make of that what you will!). Michael Bay is out of the director’s chair, and Travis Knight is in. Knight’s take on the material is different than Bay’s, and that’s paid off. Ahead of Bumblebee‘s impending release, watch a new Bumblebee clip below where Bumblebee brawls with the Decepticon Blitzwing.
