Just yesterday, the entire SlashFilm crew participated in a collaborative list of the Top 10 Films of 2015 So Far. We all voted, and then crunched the numbers to figure out what the top movies were throughout all our lists. Films like While We’re Young, Inside Out and Ex Machina made the list, but several readers also had their own favorites.

Carey Mulligan leads the cast of this Thomas Hardy adaptation, directed by skilled Danish filmmaker Thomas Vinterberg. Far From the Madding Crowd, which tells the story of a newly wealthy and very independent woman (Mulligan) and the three suitors (Tom Sturridge, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Michael Sheen) who vie for her attention, this looks like a top-tier production with some great performances. The Thomas Hardy novel Far From the Madding Crowd has been adapted into a lush film by Thomas Vinterberg, who gained international notice as part of Lars von Trier’s Dogme 95 crowd and most recently made The Hunt. Carey Mulligan stars as the very independent woman Bathsheba Everdene, while Matthias Schoenaerts, Tom Sturridge, and Michael Sheen play the three very different men who come into her life as suitors.
