The art of comedy is one that is constantly evolving. While there is some consistency in what people find funny, the style of comedy fluctuates and changes over the years. But if there’s one thing that is having a big impact on the state of comedy right now, it’s how people react to it. In the age of Twitter, it’s easy for people to get outraged about something and suddenly have an army of people vocalizing their anger online. Some of these movements are justified and can have a significant impact on society’s behavior while others are just people who take every opportunity to be offended.
There’s Something About Mary and Dumb and Dumber co-director Bobby Farrelly recently participated in a panel at the Sun Valley Film Festival where he talked about the state of modern comedy, which involves thin-skinned audiences and a lack of mid-budget feature comedies. There’s a lot to chew on here. Read More »
Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly, better known as The Farrelly Brothers, are responsible for some of the biggest and most quotable comedies of the past twenty years. This week, they’re making their first sequel, which also brings them back to the film that made them famous: Dumb and Dumber. Dumb and Dumber To reunites Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as idiots Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne, and in so doing almost brings twenty years of comedy full circle.
To celebrate the release of Dumb and Dumber To, we’re ranked all 12 directorial efforts of the Farrelly Brothers. Theirs is a career that started with a bang and has since slowed down a bit. Still, their work is an impressive collection of films with unique and innovative plots.

Age doesn’t always mean wisdom, as evidenced in the new Dumb and Dumber To international trailer. Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) may be twenty years older, but they’ve still got the combined mental capacity of an eight-year-old.
The sequel follows the pair on another wacky road trip, this time to track down the daughter that Harry never knew he had. Watch the Dumb and Dumber To international trailer after the jump.

Dumb and Dumber To is actually happening. It’s incredibly hard to believe but it’s true. Twenty years after the release of the comedy smash by the Farrelly Brothers, Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey are reprising their roles to continue the story of numbskulls Harry and Lloyd. Set in real time after the events of the first film, the duo set off to find Harry’s daughter. In the process, of course, they do lots of really dumb stuff.
The first trailer is out and it almost feels like a Saturday Night Live skit. This is actually real? Yes, it is, and it’ll hit theaters November 14. Below, watch the first Dumb and Dumber To trailer and see some new photos too. Read More »

Most of us get wiser with age, or at least we’d like to think we do. It’d be downright depressing if we were all as stupid now as we were ten or fifteen or twenty years ago. But trust Dumb and Dumber‘s Harry (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd (Jim Carrey) to be the exceptions.
Dumb and Dumber To sees the famously moronic duo reunited and setting out for another road trip, a full two decades after the first film. Or at least trying to set out on a road trip. The BFFs may be getting nowhere fast, if the first official still is any indication. Check it out after the jump.

The proposed sequel to Dumb and Dumber — the real sequel, made by Bobby and Peter Farrelly and starring Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey — has been an on-again off-again thing for a little while. But now, after being dumped by New Line and Warner Bros. and picked up by Universal, the film is set to go.
Last night, Jimmy Fallon had Jeff Daniels as a guest on Late Night, and asked about the sequel. The actor said he and Carrey are set, as are the Farrellys, and while he is a bit cautious (“I’ll believe it’s happening when I’m actually there staring at Jim Carrey”) he admits that Dumb and Dumber To is scheduled to shoot in September for a 2014 release.
