You would think that the lesson of all the Jurassic Park movies, and by extension the Jurassic World movies, is that it’s a terrible idea to visit the real, living dinosaurs of Isla Nublar. But Jurassic World Aftermath gives you the opportunity to do exactly that — in virtual reality. A new VR game coming soon to the Oculus Quest, Jurassic World Aftermath is an immersive game that allows you to run and hide from dinosaurs to your heart’s content.

Back in 2016, the short Gnomes and Goblins Preview teased a chance to step into a fantasy world created by none other than The Lion King director Jon Favreau. It was a fantasy adventure VR simulation that earned tons of buzz and excitement. It took nearly 4 years for a full-fledged PC virtual reality game to be developed by XR developers Wevr, but the full Gnomes & Goblins VR game is finally coming to PC headsets this September. Watch the Gnomes and Goblins trailer below.

One of the most praised elements of HBO’s Lovecraft Country is its interweaving of America’s racist legacy with the cosmic horror of H.P. Lovecraft, resulting in a series that gracefully and powerfully tackles racism in the past and today. So HBO’s next step in tapping into the popularity of its new sci-fi horror series is to…turn it into a VR experience?

A couple of months ago, Lucasfilm’s entertainment studio ILMxLAB announced that a new virtual reality experience called Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge was on track to come out sometime this year. The initial announcement came with just a single piece of concept art of Batuu, the planet setting for the Star Wars lands in Disney’s theme parks. But over the past few days, Lucasfilm has been slowly releasing more artwork in a build-up to next Tuesday, when the first story details about the experience will be revealed to the public. Check out the latest concept art below. Read More »

Star Wars franchise star Daisy Ridley hasn’t been in much since wrapping up the Skywalker Saga late last year. But she’s seemingly taken a liking to virtual reality, narrating a VR game called The Dawn of Art which dropped in February and now coming on board another VR project. This one is called Baba Yaga, and before you get too excited, no, this doesn’t have anything to do with the world of John Wick. (Baba Yaga, which the movie equates to “The Boogeyman,” is one of Wick’s nicknames.)
Learn about Daisy Ridley’s new VR short below.

During the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, I took a trip to the moon.
Spaced Out, a virtual reality experience from French digital artist Pierre “Pyaré” Friquet, is one of the most transporting, immersive things I’ve ever tried. Donning a bathing suit, a floatation device, and an underwater VR headset equipped with a snorkel, I floated on the surface of a pool while being visually transported across the surface of a psychedelic, kaleidoscopic moon, all set to the actual audio from the real Apollo 11 mission.
The best part? You may be able to experience it yourselves one day, because Pyaré hopes to expand it around the world. Read more about this experience below.

Technology is not quite advanced enough for there to be a real-life theme park like the one depicted in HBO’s Westworld – at least, not yet. So the next best thing would be to step into a virtual reality version of the show’s park, and starting tomorrow, that experience will become a reality. Get the details about Westworld Awakening, a new Westworld VR game from HBO and Survios.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to swing through the streets of New York City as its friendly neighborhood web-slinger, a new Spider-Man VR game is here to approximate that experience. I say “approximate” because this is far from a perfect recreation of Spidey’s abilities or the city in which he operates, but considering it’s a free VR game, beggars can’t exactly be choosers. For a slightly more high quality experience, you can take a closer look at Peter Parker’s Spidey suits in an augmented reality app that gives you a window into Peter’s social life. Learn more about both below. Read More »
