The Running Man, Stephen King‘s dystopian novel that was very loosely adapted into an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie in the ’80s, is getting a new adaptation from none other than Edgar Wright.
Wright’s adaptation will stick more closely to King’s book, which was set in a world where people risked their lives on a deadly game show to earn a billion-dollar jackpot. Wright is tackling the story adaptation for the film with Michael Bacall, and Bacall will write the script.

Since his return to the screen, Arnold Schwarzenegger has dabbled not only in new projects, but in films that return the actor to well-known roles from his past. There’s Terminator: Genisys, of course, in which Schwarzenegger steps back into the metal skeleton of the T-800. And there are possible returns to Twins and Conan, as well. Now the actor says there’s a potential Running Man sequel in the offing — that would be a return to the comic/dystopian world of the 1987 adaptation of Stephen King’s early novel of the same title. After spending some time running California, Arnold Schwarzenegger recently made a proclamation that he’s ready to get back into acting. That was about a month ago. Since then, it’s been all quiet on the Arnold front until this weekend.
