In the middle of all the insanity at San Diego Comic-Con last week, Halloween creator John Carpenter announced that two more sequels would shoot back-to-back. Halloween Kills arrives on the big screen in 2020, and Halloween Ends sounds like it will complete the new thread of the franchise in 2021. The 1984 sci-fi classic The Last Starfighter wasn’t meant to be the last in its franchise. Nor will it be — a new remake is reportedly on the way from Gary Whitta, the screenwriter of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. But this remake/sequel won’t be the first attempt to revive The Last Starfighter. Original director Nick Castle revealed that in 2005, his team was developing The Last Starfighter sequel that would have brought back the all of the original cast.

David Gordon Green‘s Halloween reboot/sequel is shaping up nicely. Halloween star Jamie Lee Curtis is coming back, and she’s not the only original cast member set to return: Nick Castle, who played killer Michael Myers in John Carpenter‘s 1978 classic, is going to slip on that iconic mask once again as he joins the Halloween reboot cast. Castle is the latest addition to a cast that also includes Judy Greer and Andi Matichak.
