The Mission: Impossible movies have become synonyms with crazy-ass stunts. Director Christopher McQuarrie, who is shooting Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 back-to-back, recently teased some of the stunts-to-come, promising that Cruise has at least “three obscene things” lined-up that are so wild and dangerous that they make McQuarrie feel like puking. Long live cinema!

Mission: Impossible Sequels Cast

Just when you thought the cast of the upcoming back-to-back Mission: Impossible sequels couldn’t get any better, director Christopher McQuarrie digs back into the past for a real stunner.

In the original Mission: Impossible, agent Ethan Hunt was framed as a mole in the IMF, and he was pursued aggressively by agency director Eugene Kittridge. He was quite a ruthless character, but only to enemies of the IMF, and once Jim Phelps (Jon Voight) was revealed to be the real mole, all was forgiven. Hayley Atwell, the once and future Peggy Carter actress in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is going to be joining a different cinematic universe of spies: she’s the latest addition to the next Mission: Impossible film. Mission Impossible 7 and 8

After Mission: Impossible – Fallout, writer-director Christopher McQuarrie gave the impression that he was going to take a break from the franchise for a while. That didn’t last, though, because it was soon announced McQuarrie reunite with Tom Cruise yet again, and helm both Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 back-to-back. This will no doubt be a daunting feat, and McQuarrie isn’t afraid to admit that.

In a new interview, the filmmaker talks about how he’s feeling the pressure to make sure the franchise earns these back-to-back sequels, and his believe that the new films need to “swallow the last three movies whole.”
