Update: Ghostbusters 2016 director Paul Feig has chimed in, offering his support for Leslie Jones:
“An absolute honest to God never ending supply of bulls**t and hate from these trolls. Leslie spoke her truth and I support her. I am very open to Jason’s new version of GB but am also sad that our 2016 team may not get to bust again. We all are. We’re forever proud of our movie.”

Leading up to and after the release of Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, the female team of conductors of the metaphysical examination faced a lot of vitriol and venom from the angry fanboys who were simply upset about women taking over paranormal extermination duties. So it should come as no surprise that one of them is upset about the new Ghostbusters project in the works from director Jason Reitman, son of the original franchise director producer Ivan Reitman.

It would be an understatement to say she’s not happy about being left out in the wind. Read More »

Even though we’ve heard that a Ghostbusters sequel is unlikely after the box office numbers were analyzed a little more closely, there’s a chance the home video release could help convince Sony Pictures otherwise. Plus, when the reboot hits home video, we’ll be getting a different cut of the movie as an extended cut has been confirmed to be on the home video release, as teased by director Paul Feig a little while back.
The film has officially been given the title of Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, which appeared at the end of some of the trailers and the movie once it hit theaters, as you can see in the cover art. You can check that out after the jump along with the list of special features and the release date for the Ghostbusters extended cut on Digital HD as well as Blu-ray and DVD. Read More »
The reboot of Ghostbsuters arrived this summer and stirred up plenty of buzz, both good and bad. It doesn’t sound like the movie performed well enough at the box office to warrant a sequel to get made, despite Sony’s confidence immediately after the film opened, but we’ll see how things play out after it hits home video.
However, regardless of how you feel about the franchise reboot, I think that even some of those who didn’t like the movie would commend the Ghostbusters visual effects, especially in the spectre department. The new ghosts in the movie were creepy, colorful and really brought some visual style to the reboot. Now a Ghostbusters visual effects reel from the company Iloura shows how some practical tools combined with digital animation helped bring them to life in the movie. Read More »
Just a few days after the reboot of Ghostbusters from director Paul Feig hit theaters, Sony Pictures made quite the confident claim that a sequel would likely be happening. At the time, Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution at Sony Pictures, said:
The ‘Ghostbusters’ world is alive and well. I expect ‘Ghostbusters’ to become an important brand and franchise. While nothing has been officially announced yet, there’s no doubt in my mind it will happen.
It’s a good thing nothing was officially announced, because with a projected loss of $70 million or more when all is said and done, the prospects of a Ghostbusters sequel actually happening aren’t looking too good. Find out more after the jump. Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Now that the dust has settled around the hotly debated Ghostbusters reboot from director Paul Feig, we wanted to take a look back at all the Easter eggs and references the new film made to the original 1984 classic from director Ivan Reitman. Jared Hess‘ Masterminds centers on a real-life $17 million heist, but Ocean’s 11 or Inside Man this ain’t. Instead, the thieves behind the operation include an unassuming armored car driver played by Zach Galifianakis, his flirty co-worker played by Kristen Wiig, their not-very-brilliant mastermind played by Owen Wilson. Jason Sudeikis stars as a hitman, Kate McKinnon as Galifianakis’ wife, and Leslie Jones as the cop who’s out to get them all. Yep, this film stars three of the four new Ghostbusters.
