Lionsgate is teaming with Parques Reunidos to bring a Lionsgate-branded indoor entertainment center to New York City’s Times Square in 2019. Lionsgate Entertainment City will feature 13 different attractions aimed at teens and young adults.
Among the offerings featured, there will be:
- a Mad Men themed “dining and lounge experience.”
- a Hunger Games flying simulator attraction
- a Divergent-themed obstacle course
- a John Wick: Chapter Two shooting ride where fans will fire fake guns at a series of assailants
- a 4D film and live theater (which I’m assuming could be easily switched out with new content)
- a Lionsgate Café
- a Hunger Games-inspired Peeta’s Bakery and The Capitol Confectionery
- the first-ever Lionsgate Studio Store
- and virtual reality entertainment, including a Nerve VR motorcycle experience.
Find out more about Lionsgate Entertainment City, after the jump.

(With 2017 halfway over, the /Film staff will be spending this week compiling lists of the best movies they’ve seen this year. In order to be eligible for the list, a film they’ve seen simply has to have a 2017 release date, even if they saw it at a festival or early screening. Here are Jack Giroux’s top 10 movies of 2017 so far.)
So far, this has been a good year at the movies, especially the last two weeks. The Beguiled, Okja, Baby Driver, and a film I regrettably haven’t seen yet but have heard nothing but love for, The Big Sick, all came out and have kept us busy watching movies. Throughout 2017, we’ve been treated to a variety of good films, including a few standout crime stories and superhero movies. Here are my top 10 movies of 2017 so far.

In 2012, screenwriter Derek Kolstad was working on a spec script called Scorn. Soon after he finished it, three offers came in. Kolstad took the lowest offer from Thunder Road Pictures because they were adamant about making the movie as soon as possible. Within a few months, the title was changed to John Wick and Keanu Reeves was onboard to star as the unstoppable dog-friendly assassin.
It was Reeves, by the way, whose idea it was to call the movie John Wick.
Two and a half years later, we’re getting its sequel, John Wick: Chapter 2, which has a slightly different tone and pace but is still pure John Wick. It’s bigger, more stylish, and more personal. There’s still a dilemma for the titular character that isn’t half-baked. Can a guy like that ever truly leave behind his past? It’s a question Kolstad and director Chad Stahelski take the time to explore in the visual splendor of John Wick: Chapter 2.
At the press day for the sequel, Kolstad discussed world building, his favorite action movies, writing for Keanu Reeves, and more with us. Below, check out our Derek Kolstad interview.

We’re counting the days until John Wick (Keanu Reeves) returns. Right now, we only have 25 days to go, or less than 600 hours, until we get to see the character back in action. This time he’s in Rome and up against the likes of Ruby Rose. We’ve already seen a decent amount from the marketing for the sequel, but if you want to see more of John Wick before the movie opens in theaters, then check out some new John Wick: Chapter 2 images below.

For a guy who claims he really just wants out of the game, he sure is bad at staying retired. Click through to see the new John Wick: Chapter 2 trailer. Read More »
Aside from the fact that John Wick was one of the best action thrillers we’ve seen in awhile, one of the reasons everyone fell in love with the movie was the adorable puppy that the titular assassin had. But audiences were heartbroken to learn that the dog actually ends up being one of the catalysts to John Wick coming back to action because some assholes kill that cute little puppy.
Thankfully, John Wick got a new dog at the end of the first movie, and as a new John Wick 2 photo shows us, no one has killed that dog yet. The first official photo from John Wick 2 has just surfaced, and it features the hitman and his trusty canine taking a walk. I swear on everything that is holy, if someone kills that dog, there will be hell to pay. Read More »
In addition to being an ageless immortal who will live on long past the rest of us are rotting in the ground, Keanu Reeves is one of the most dedicated actors working these days. Say what you will about his acting (but if you say anything negative, know that you’re wrong), but here is a guy who gives every single performance everything he has. Watch any behind-the-scenes featurette or making-of documentary and you’ll find Mr. Reeves immersing himself in whatever it takes to make his characters come to life.
So if you’re wondering why Reeves was so convincing as an Unstoppable Killing Machine in John Wick, all you have to do is watch footage of him participating in some live ammo training as part of his preparation for John Wick: Chapter Two. Then you’ll realize that Keanu Reeves is an actual Unstoppable Killing Machine. No acting required.

If you enjoyed the first John Wick, as we did, you were very likely sold on John Wick 2 the moment it was announced. Keanu Reeves is set to return, as is co-director Chad Stahelski, and what else do you really need to know before sprinting down to your local box office (or to the online ticketing retailer of your choice) to grab some opening weekend tickets for you and your action-loving friends?
Well, it’d probably help to know the release date, for starters. And also the real title — no, it’s not John Wick 2. And heck, while we’re at it, you surely wouldn’t mind getting a little more information on what the movie’s actually about, either. Fortunately, all of those details are here now for you to enjoy. Go forth to find out when John Wick hits theaters, and exactly where he’ll be when we pick up with him again. Read More »
