Final Love and Monsters Trailer

There are plenty of movies that aren’t getting released in theaters this year that audiences are hungry to sink their teeth into. Many of them have been moved to 2021, but this weekend brings the release of a movie that deserves the big screen treatment that has unfortunately been relegated to a small screen debut on premium VOD.

Love and Monsters takes place seven years after a monster apocalypse was unleashed on Earth. After spending years in a bunker with other survivors, a young guy named Joel (Dylan O’Brien) is sick of waiting for things to change, and he decides to head to the surface to reunite with his high school sweetheart Amy (Jessica Henwick), who is in another bunker 80 miles away. There’s just one problem: Joel is far from skilled at surviving, and he has a tendency to freeze whenever a giant monster comes around. See for yourself in the new Love and Monsters trailer below. Nancy Wu Done It

Movies or TV shows in which creators are unwittingly sucked into their own stories have become a common trope. But it’s rare when one of those projects hails from an Asian-American perspective, and such is the case with Nancy Wu Done It, a new comedy series that Amazon recently purchased in a bidding war.

The comedy, which is described as Pleasantville meets Nancy Drew, will center on a young adult Asian-American writer who’s sucked into her own book and must solve a mystery. Actress Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist, Game of Thrones) is co-writing the script with Kai Yu Wu, whose credits include NBC’s Hannibal and The CW’s The Flash.

Iron Fist season 2 Comic-Con

Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, opened the Iron Fist season 2 panel at San Diego Comic-Con International with carefully crafted phrasing: “How do we top the martial arts from Season 1 in Season 2?” The question politely encapsulates a major criticism that many had with the first season of Iron Fist: the fighting (and the story) sucked.

Marvel and Netflix appear to have taken that criticism to heart. The series has benefited from a new showrunner, Raven Metzner, as well as the addition of Clayton Barber, a fight coordinator whose credits include Creed and Black Panther. In addition to the new behind-the-scenes players, the panel also included Finn Jones (Danny Rand), Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing), Simone Missick (Misty Knight) and, as a surprise late addition to the event, Alice Eve, who is playing (wait for it…) Typhoid Mary.

The group, steered by Jeph’s bombastic interview style, provided an entertaining show. But the real stars of the panel were the exclusive clips Loeb shared of the season to come. Here is a run-down of the Iron Fist season 2 Comic-Con footage, with each clip working hard to convince Marvel fans to give Iron Fist another chance. Read More »
