Here’s the first Ip Man 3 teaser, complete with some footage of Mike Tyson as the antagonist of the film. (He’s not playing himself, by the way.) Donnie Yen returns as Ip Man, most famous for teaching Bruce Lee, though that point in his life is only one of many achievements.

When new info about Ip Man 3 arrived a few days ago, the big surprise wasn’t that Mike Tyson would play a significant role in the film, but that producers planned to feature the late Bruce Lee via a CG recreation of the martial artist and actor. We’d heard that a stalled deal with Lee’s estate had prevented the icon from appearing in Ip Man 2, and assumed this plan meant that things had been worked out with the estate.

The first two Ip Man films are quite good, but the third, which is just starting to go into production, is already starting to sound like it features some odd decisions. Not only will Mike Tyson show up in a significant role in Ip Man 3, but the producers of the film are resorting to visual effects to revive one of the title character’s most famous students.
This third chapter in the story of the martial artist who ended up teaching the late Bruce Lee will finally feature Lee himself. (OK, Lee appeared as a child at the very end of Ip Man 2.)
