let them all talk review

Can you even imagine going on a cruise again? I’m sure some people are perfectly fine with the idea – heck, some people would be willing to go right now, this very second, if they could. But here in the age of the coronavirus, cruises seem like floating Petri dishes; isolated barges with no escape. Which makes Steven Soderbergh‘s curious Let Them All Talk already feel weirdly dated. It’s set in a world where people gather freely, maskless, throwing their cares to the wind. They board a huge ship and take to the sea. It’s almost surreal at this point.

Eternals cast

Marvel Studios has earned a lot of attention for announcing that one of the lead characters of the upcoming The Eternals movie will be LGBTQ, but now it’s turning heads because of a new casting report which indicates the studio may be doing something it’s rarely, if ever, done before.

Plus, Barry Keoghan, who recently appeared on HBO’s Chernobyl and has starred in films like Dunkirk and American Animals, is also on board. Here’s what we know so far. Read More »

Gemma Chan

Gemma Chan rounds out the last of our interviews from the set of Captain Marvel. The British-born actress plays a member of Starforce, the galactic team that Carol Danvers is part of at the start of the movie. Minn-Erva is a Kree sniper who was the star of the team before Brie Larson‘s Carol Danvers showed up, which should add some drama.

mary queen of scots review

The era of the progressive period piece is surprisingly tedious.

Led by two powerhouse performers and backed by a radically diverse cast, Mary Queen of Scots seems to promise the evolution of the period piece — one anchored around two fascinating women ahead of their time and not limited by the crusty perceptions of stuffy historical dramas. But despite the sensational turns by Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie as dueling female rulers, Mary Queen of Scots doesn’t turn out to be a revolutionary historical drama as much as it ends up a failed coup.

Captain Marvel Cast

Captain Marvel has been shooting for a few weeks now, but Marvel Studios has just sent out a press release announcing the start of production. That press release also includes the full cast for the film starring Brie Larson as the new cosmic superhero of the title, and it includes a couple characters from Guardians of the Galaxy and a beloved character we haven’t seen since he was killed off in The Avengers in 2012. In fact, all three of these characters are dead in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Captain Marvel is a prequel set in the ’90s. All bets are off.
