An Eve first look just arrived, giving us a glimpse of a very bloody Jessica Chastain. The film finds Chastain playing an assassin fighting to stay alive after a job goes wrong. Chastain stars along with Colin Farrell, Common, John Malkovich, Joan Chen and Geena Davis. See the Eve first look below.

Eve, an action movie starring Jessica Chastain, has just added two great cast members: Geena Davis and Joan Chen. The film follows an assassin being hunted by her former employers while struggling to tell her family about her deadly job. Davis is likely playing Chastain’s mother, while Chen is playing a gangster. All of this sounds amazing, and I’d like to see this movie immediately.

I’m not sure if anyone expected Jessica Chastain to become a full-fledged action movie star, but the actress is starting to take big strides in that direction. She has a female-centric action project called 355 in the works, she’s about to appear in the presumably action-heavy superhero movie X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and she’s gearing up to star in and produce a new action film called Eve.
Matthew Newton, the original director of Eve, ended up stepping down from the project after a fan outcry regarding domestic violence allegations against him. Now, Chastain will be reunited with The Help filmmaker Tate Taylor, who has swooped in to become the new Eve director. Read More »

Jessica Chastain: action star. The Oscar-nominated actress will be starring in an action movie, Eve, under Voltage Pictures — her first action film since 2016’s The Huntsman: Winter’s War. But Chastain, who has become a vocal advocate for equal pay in Hollywood, will be stepping behind the scenes as well as a producer for Eve through her Freckle Films banner.
Fox Searchlight has released the first photos from Drew Barrymore‘s directorial debut Whip It in today’s issue of USA Today. Based on the book Derby Girl by Shauna Cross, the film stars Ellen Page as Bliss Cavendar, “an indie-rock loving misfit” who finds a way of dealing with her small-town misery after she discovers a roller derby league in nearby Austin Texas. More photos after the jump.

Ropes Of Silicon has received word that Fox Searchlight has picked up Drew Barrymore‘s directorial debut Whip It!, and will release it on October 9th 2009. Searchlight is the best possible distributor for a film like this. And while October isn’t the best month to be released, the mid-October slot has done well for the studio in the past: Boy’s Don’t Cry and Sideways.
Based on the book Derby Girl by Shauna Cross, the film stars Ellen Page as Bliss, “an indie-rock loving misfit” who finds a way of dealing with her small-town misery after she discovers a roller derby league in nearby Austin Texas. Marcia Gay Harden plays Bliss’ disapproving mother, Jimmy Falon plays a cheesy hungover announcer named Hot Tub Johnny, while Kristen Wiig, Juliette Lewis, Zoe Bell and Eve play roller-derby stars.
