Diana Rigg Dead

Years before Marvel Comics debuted their superhero team, the United Kingdom was already host to their own version of The Avengers, an espionage series in the vein of classic James Bond. Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg played John Steed and Emma Peel, two secret agents dressed to the nines who dealt with a variety of British bad guys. Patrick Macnee passed away back in 2015, and now he’s joined by his partner in espionage as Diana Rigg has passed away at age 82.

Diana Rigg was more recently known for her supporting role as Lady Olenna Tyrell on Game of Thrones, a role which earned her Emmy nominations as a guest actress three years in a row. Last Night in Soho cast

Beloved genre filmmaker Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Baby Driver) is currently in production on his newest film, a psychological horror thriller called Last Night in Soho. He had already lined up an impressive cast of young actors to star, but now he’s given the movie an extra splash of gravitas by hiring two iconic British actors: Dame Diana Rigg, who was recently pitch-perfect as the sharp tongued Olenna Tyrell on Game of Thrones, and Terence Stamp, who memorably brought Metropolis to its knees as General Zod in Superman II. The third season premiere of Game of Thrones is still two months away, but HBO is making sure fans have plenty of time to get acquainted with the show’s new characters. The network has just revealed over twenty stills from the new season, showcasing the faces we’ll be following for throughout the next ten episodes.

That includes characters we’ve been tracking since Season One, like the Starks and Lannisters, but also a slew of new figures including Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg), Jojen and Meera Reed (Thomas Brodie Sangster and Ellie Kendrick), Mance Rayder (Ciaran Hinds), Beric Dondadarrion (Richard Dormer), Brynden “The Blackfish” Tully (Clive Russell), and Thoros of Myr (Paul Kaye). After drawing enough fans to fill Ballroom 20 to the rafters and then some at last year’s Comic-Con, HBO’s Game of Thrones was upgraded this year to the massive Hall H — and still had no trouble whatsoever attracting lines out the door (and down the sidewalk, and behind the Hilton, and all the way out to the water).

Beloved author George R. R. Martin served as moderator for the panel, which was attended by producer Carolyn Strauss and stars Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Tully), Richard Madden (Robb Stark), Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), Rose Leslie (Ygritte), and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen). Fans who were able to get in got to be the first to learn about some new casting for key characters like Brynden Tully, Olenna Redwyne, and Jojen Reed, as well as the confirmed return date for Season 3.
