Castle Rock returns to Hulu with a whole new story set in the world of Stephen King. The show’s anthology format allows Castle Rock to focus on a different King-inspired tale, with all new characters, every season – and season 2 promises to dig even deeper into the prolific horror writer’s bibliography. While season 1 was only tangibly connected to King’s books – merely using familiar characters and locations – season 2 goes further, pulling storylines directly from King’s books Misery and ‘Salem’s Lot. The end result is a blend of creepy and curious. There’s plenty of spooky stuff afoot, but Castle Rock never manages to be scary. And Misery and ‘Salem’s Lot, two vastly different King novels, make for strange bedfellows.

Ready to head back to Castle Rock? The second season of the Stephen King-inspired Hulu series has just announced its cast, and the King work from which it’ll be drawing influence. King’s 1987 novel Misery will serve as a jumping-off point for season 2, with Lizzy Caplan set to play deranged nurse Annie Wilkes – a role made famous by Kathy Bates in the Misery film adaptation. 2019 WGA Awards Winners

Over the weekend, the Writers Guild of America handed out their annual awards honoring the best writing in film and television, and they’re definitely shaking things up in the final week before the Oscars.

While Roma has been the Oscar favorite for some time now, earning the Directors Guild of America’s top honors, Green Book walked away with the Producers Guild of America’s big trophy. Meanwhile Black Panther landed a Screen Actors Guild awards victory for ensemble cast, and the American Cinema Editors awarded both Bohemian Rhapsody and The Favourite.
