Woody Allen‘s upcoming film, Café Society, will soon premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Less than two months after its festival debut, we’ll all get a chance to see Allen’s latest, courtesy of Amazon. Set in the 1930s, the comedy stars Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Steve Carell (who replaced Bruce Willis), Corey Stoll, Parker Posey, Blake Lively, Paul Schneider, Judy Davis, and will potentially feature a voiceover from Allen.

Like clockwork, another Woody Allen movie has peeked its head over the horizon. It’s an annual tradition at this point: the legendary filmmaker always arrives with another movie and each of them feels like another bold shout of “I’m not dead yet!” at the dark, gaping and empty void that encircled his comedy and drama for the past fifty or so years. After all, you have to go back to 1981 to find a year that didn’t feature the release of a new Allen film. A year without a new Woody Allen movie is the year Woody Allen kicks the bucket.

Rumors had been swirling for awhile that Woody Allen‘s next film, titled Cafe Society, would open the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. Today an official announcement confirmed those rumors, making this the third time Allen has opened the French film festival. Hollywood Ending and Midnight in Paris had the honor in 2002 and 2011 respectively.
Cafe Society, starring Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg, will premiere at the festival on May 11th, and along with this news, we finally have an official logline. In traditional Woody Allen fashion, it doesn’t tell us a whole lot about what we can expect from the romance, but some details were recently revealed by cinemtographer Vittorio Storaro. In addition, a new photo from the movie was revealed that you can see below.
