But if you’re like me, and still prefer physical media, here’s some good news: the Blu-ray is on the way. The 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD release will arrive next month, May 12 to be exact, bringing with it all sorts of special features.

One of the few good things about not reporting box office numbers at the moment is that we don’t have to see how audiences around America ignore the critically acclaimed, underseen fare in favor of the bad popcorn flick of the month. But it turns out that, even with movie theaters closed around the country, things don’t change much.
Last week, both Bloodshot and Birds of Prey, two comic book movies with wildly different critical receptions, hit digital platforms early amid coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns. But despite the abysmal critical reception to Bloodshot (which sits at 29% on Rotten Tomatoes), and favorable reviews of Birds of Prey (78% on Rotten Tomatoes), Bloodshot came out on top in video-on-demand sales.

Birds of Prey and Bloodshot both hit digital today as studios attempt to figure out how to appeal to folks stuck at home due to the coronavirus. Both of these digital releases are early – especially Bloodshot, which opened in theaters this month – and studios are hoping that movie-goers will shell out some cash to own titles sooner than expected. To better get the word out, Warner Bros. and Sony have both released extended previews for each film, with a 10-minute chunk from the beginning of Birds of Prey, and the full first 8-ish minutes of Bloodshot.

The video goes behind-the-scenes of the R-rated DC flick, delving into the origins of the script, the hiring of director Cathy Yan, the fight scenes, and more. It’s a crash-course in a crazy film that will hopefully find a larger audience on digital than it did in theaters.
