Troop Zero trailer

Troop Zero follows a space-obsessed oddball (Mckenna Grace) who discovers that the local girl scouts are participating in a contest where the winners will be able to record a message for the Voyager spacecraft. So naturally, she gathers her fellow misfits and forms her own troop to try to win that prize, while the feuding leaders (Allison Janney and Viola Davis) clash along with their troopers. A new trailer for the upcoming computer animated adaptation of The Addams Family arrived just this past week, but audiences outside of the United States are getting a different peek at the creepy, kooky family and their macabre antics. A new international Addams Family trailer shows us much more of how Gomez (Oscar Isaac), Morticia (Charlize Theron), Wednesday (Chloë Grace Moretz), Pugsley (Finn Wolfhard), and Uncle Fester (Nick Kroll) shake up their new home in New Jersey. The internet has been fan-casting Oscar Isaac in an Addams Family reboot for a few years, and now, it’s finally happening! But there’s a catch: we won’t get to actually see Isaac don a pinstripe suit and puff away on a cigar, because the new Addams Family is animated. Bummer. Troop Zero review

From its opening shot that travels from the Big Dipper all the way down to the small town of Wiggly, Georgia in 1977, Troop Zero, a Southern-fried comedy from female co-directors Bert & Bertie, seems to constantly walk the line of being too precocious and cute for its own good. But even though its jokes don’t always land, the film is still a pleasant, largely charming diversion and further proof that Viola Davis can elevate any movie she’s in. Read More »

There was a time when every new Bad Robot movie was presumed to be a new secret Cloverfield sequel. That trend has apparently died out, but maybe we can get it going again with Bad Robot’s latest, a thriller called Lou.

Allison Janney has joined the cast of the thriller, which involves a young woman and her landlord trying to rescue a kidnapped child. I’m not sure how this could be a Cloverfield movie, so it probably isn’t. But maybe it is! And maybe it’s really called Clouverfield! (It’s not).
