Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who helmed the surprisingly good Bad Boys For Life, are headed to Gotham City. The duo has been tapped by Warner Bros. to direct the Batgirl movie, which has a screenplay from Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson. At one point, Warner Bros. had hired Joss Whedon to write and direct the film, but Whedon walked away after saying he was unable to crack the story. The film is being planned as an HBO Max release.

Marvel Studios has hired several directors to helm Ms. Marvel, the studio’s upcoming Disney+ series about a Pakistani-American teenager who has the ability to alter her shape and size. Among the directors are Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the two filmmakers behind this year’s action sequel Bad Boys For Life; Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, a two-time Oscar winner; and Meera Menon, whose has previously worked under the Marvel umbrella by writing episodes of Netflix’s The Punisher. Bad Boys 3, tentatively titled Bad Boys For Life, is ready to ride or die, and the film just landed a very impressive cinematographer. Benoit Debie, who has shot such stylish films as Spring Breakers and Enter the Void, will serve as director of photography. This doesn’t mean Bad Boys 3 will be a good movie, but it’ll certainly look amazing.
