CBS presented a panel on their Big Bang Theory prequel, Young Sheldon, to the Television Critics Association today. Iain Armitage plays Sheldon Cooper at age nine in the year 1989, with Jim Parsons providing voiceover. It is creator Chuck Lorre’s first show that is not filmed in front of a studio audience, and speaking about the new format, Lorre compared it to the classic ‘60s nostalgia show The Wonder Years.

CBS is the latest network to debut their trailers for the 2017-2018 season. We’ve already highlighted the preview for The Big Bang Theory prequel series Young Sheldon, but there are five other shows coming to the network this fall and two more arriving for the midseason in 2018.

Let’s make a quick list of certain things: death, taxes, and people on the internet finding new ways to complain about the mere existence of The Big Bang Theory while it continues to be one the most popular shows on television. So as you sit down to watch (or possibly hate-watch) the Young Sheldon trailer, a prequel series following Jim Parsons’ character as a kid growing up in east Texas, understand that this show will probably be on the air for a long, long time.
