Even though Marvel Studios is now squarely focused on bringing forth the small screen side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with shows like WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Loki, they’re still letting some shows from the old Marvel Television arm move forward, and one of them just added some outstanding new cast members.
Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. is a new stop-motion animated series coming to Hulu that focuses on the titular megalomaniacal supervillain as he deals with failure in the form of losing his job, struggling with his marriage and family, along with all the general woes of being a comic book villain. Patton Oswalt is leading the series as M.O.D.O.K., and the show’s panel at WonderCon over the weekend announced the addition of Jon Hamm, Whoopi Goldberg, Nathan Fillion, and Bill Hader. The history of Hollywood has been chronicled endlessly in various kinds of feature and television documentaries. But Ava DuVernay‘s film collective ARRAY is getting a little more specific with a new documentary series called They’ve Gotta Have Us, focusing on art, activism and race as it pertains to black cinema in Hollywood. The series features an assembly of some of the most influential black actors, actresses, writers and directors over the years, all talking about the evolution of black cinema and its major milestones. Star Trek: Picard brings back not just Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard, but several other familiar Trek characters as well. One character who isn’t back, though: Guinan, the bartender played by Whoopi Goldberg. But that’ll change for Picard season 2. And now, an update to the Sister Act 3 saga that I know you’ve all been following closely these last few years. Back in 2015, a Sister Act remake was announced. Later, it was revealed this remake would be Sister Act 3, and that original star Whoopi Goldberg would have a cameo.
