After a smashing starring debut in the film Ong Bak, Thai action star Tony Jaa made a film called Tom-Yum-Goong, released in the US as The Protector. Like Ong Bak, that film was directed by Prachya Pinkaew, with fights choreographed by Jaa and his mentor, Panna Rittikrai.
Now The Protector 2 is almost upon us, and while it features perhaps a too-pervasive use of digital work, there is still no shortage of the insane physical action that made Jaa’s first starring roles impossible to look away from.
