Directors Anthony & Joe Russo faced a little bit of backlash when they tried to make a big deal about the first openly gay character in a Marvel movie having a bit part in an early scene in Avengers: Endgame. The character was played by Joe Russo himself, a man dealing with the trauma of the snap by trying to go out on a date again with another man, as he recounts in a group therapy session that Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is leading.

Train to Busan‘s Ma Dong-seok will make his American acting debut in The Eternals. The future Marvel film is being helmed by Chloé Zhao, with Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani both likely to join the film in undisclosed roles. Marvel Studios set a new precedent when it announced literally years of movies in advance. But the studio weathered scoffs and skepticism to become one of the most lucrative companies today, and the originator of the modern cinematic universe.
But as that 10-year plan comes to an end with the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel future slate remains curiously blank. The next wave, commonly called Phase 4, has not yet been announced by Marvel chief Kevin Feige, and it seems like it will stay that way for a few more months.
