Bad Batch Decommissioned

This post contains major spoilers for the latest episode of the series.

The protagonists of The Bad Batch remain on Ord Mantell at Cid’s in the latest episode, “Decommissioned.” Tech and Wrecker take it upon themselves to train Omega in the use of an energy bow when Cid interrupts them with a new mission. She wants them to head to Corellia to steal a tactical droid from a decommissioning facility. With clones now serving the Empire, the data from a Separatist tactical droid skyrockets in value. While on Corellia, they run into complications when they encounter another pair of ne’er-do-wells with the same mission. Ultimately, they all work together to fight their way out of the droid decommissioning facility, and Hunter has to make some difficult decisions. Read More »

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Rampage Breakdown

This post contains major spoilers for the latest episode of the series.

The Clone Troopers of The Bad Batch look for help anywhere they can get it, and in the latest episode “Rampage,” Echo has an idea. Cid was an old contact of the Jedi and they seek out this mysterious barkeep. The group heads to Ord Mantell, hoping they can learn more about Fennec Shand, the bounty hunter that chased them down in the previous episode. As things like this tend to go, they eventually discover that in order to get the information they want, they’ll have to do a job first. Cid tells them they’ll need to rescue Moochi from Zygerrian Slavers. Cid also fails to mention that Moochi is an adolescent Rancor, which is a fine how do you do for the squad. Eventually, they’re able to complete the job and get paid, but not without a lot of heartache and only a taste of the information they wanted. Read More »

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Replacements Review

When Star Wars: The Bad Batch premiered last week, I had complaints that the fast-moving episode skimped questions about Crosshair’s state of mind under the influence of his clone brain chip. But the latest “Replacements” (directed by Nathaniel Villanueva and written by Matt Michnovetz) scratches dents into the issue and promises deeper explorations in the future. Plus, the episode proceeds to scan interesting territory that wasn’t previously explored, at least on Star Wars television: the post-Republic transition from clones to Stormtroopers. It also accentuates a personal transition for the Bad Batch: processing Crosshair’s absence and parenting their young clone charge Omega (Michelle Ang). Read More »
