There’s a robot in the new Jem and the Holograms trailer, and at first I was sure why. For the most part, this new trailer is an expansion of the first, where Jerrica, a shy but talented young woman becomes an internet sensation only to find rapacious talent executives trying to separate her from her friends in order to control her. (Just like what happens to Eazy-E in Straight Outta Compton!)
Turns out the robot, a cute toy invented by Jerrica’s dad, is the movie’s updated version of the holographic computer from the original animated series. Check it out in the new Jem trailer below. Read More »

That icon of flashy ’80s fashion, Jerrica Benton a.k.a. Jem, is back in 2015 with a truly outrageous new look. As revealed in the latest Jem and the Holograms images, that involves studded leather, white fringe, lots of glitter, and… okay, on second thought, maybe Jem hasn’t really changed that much.
Aubrey Peeples plays the titular pop star, who struggles to stay true to herself as her music career blows up. Stefanie Scott, Hayley Kiyoko, and Aurora Perrineau play her bandmates and BFFs. Jon M. Chu directed and Jason Blum executive produced. See the new Jem and the Holograms pics after the jump. Read More »
One of the smartest things writer/director Leigh Whannell did with Insidious Chapter 3 is go back in time. In the first film, the awesome character of Elise was killed. In Chapter 2, we see her as a character in the Further, the spiritual limbo the film series centers around. But for Chapter 3, the series goes rewinds the timeline to explain a bit more of how Elise – played by Lin Shaye – because so familiar with the spirit world of the Further.
At WonderCon 2015, Blumhouse premiered a new clip from Insidious Chapter 3 which shows a bit of this origin. We see Quinn (Stefanie Scott) ask Elise to help her contact her dead mother. Anyone who watches horror movies knows, this is a very, very bad idea.
Watch the new Insidious 3 clip below and read about a second, even scarier, clip. Read More »
Walking onto the set of Insidious Chapter 3 is almost exactly like walking into the Further. That’s not just because, on day 25 of a 29 day shoot, they’re shooting scenes in the Further. It’s because first-time director Leigh Whannel likes a very quiet set and everything is kept incredibly dark. How dark is it? So dark, PAs walk around the stage with flashlight head attachments. So dark that even the dim monitors around which a small group of journalists huddles in far the corner are putting off too much light. A ceiling to floor curtain is dragged in front of us to just make sure things remain dark.
After writing and co-starring in the first two films, Whannel is doing both those jobs as well as directing Insidious Chapter 3. It’s a prequel to the first two, set three years before the first movie, and is described as an origin story for Elise, Lin Shaye’s character. She’ll be called in to help the Lambert family (Stefanie Scott and Dermot Mulroney) deal with some issues in the Further, the alternate plane of existence that’s home to some of the most terrible creatures imaginable. In Insidious Chapter 3, the main villain is described as “the physical manifestation of cancer” and he was the star of the brief, frightening scene we saw shot. It’s August 12, 2014 at Delfino Stages, about 20 miles outside of Los Angeles and this is our Insidious 3 set visit. Read More »
UPDATE: We first posted an Insidious 3 trailer Monday, but that was released prematurely by the studio. The official version has now been released.
The second Insidious film was a bit of a disappointment. After the stellar, terrifying first film, the follow-up seemed to prioritize story over character and scares. Well, a new trailer for the third film, Insidious Chapter 3, heavily suggests this latest installment will fix that mistake.
Chapter 3 takes place before the first two films and explain how ghost hunter Elise (Lin Shaye) learns about The Further, the parallel dimension where the dead live and thrive. She does that via the plight of a young father (Dermot Mulroney) and his daughter (Stefanie Scott).
The latest Insidious 3 trailer is super creepy while really keeping the story hidden behind a bevy of scares, creatures and mood. It’s a great set up for what’s to come. Check out the Insidious Chapter 3 trailer , and new poster, below. Read More »
