Mark Hamill is best known for playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars saga, but he’s also a renowned voice actor. That’s why Hamill also lent his voice to some extra characters in the galaxy far, far away, but it turns out there’s even more that Mark Hamill did as a voice actor than previously known.
Recently, the documentary series Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian revealed that Mark Hamill lent his voice to the droid EV-9D9 in an episode of the live-action Star Wars series on Disney+. That prompted Hamill to confirm on social media that he has extra voice roles in the Star Wars universe outside of the ones we already knew about. Read More »

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ended with Rey revealing her new yellow lightsaber, signaling the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter for the Jedi. But originally Rey, who had fought for the past three films with lightsabers that belonged to Luke or Leia, might have been able to wield her own lightsaber much earlier in The Rise of Skywalker. New Star Wars concept art that show the inner workings of Rey’s lightsaber, which she builds through the course of the film, suggests that the lightsaber would have played a larger part in The Rise of Skywalker in the original plans.

One of the best things about Star Wars is how it distilled dozens of unrelated inspirations into a sci-fi world that felt simultaneously familiar and unlike anything people had ever seen. Tasked with wrapping up the entire Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker didn’t have quite the same freedom to innovate as George Lucas’s scrappy original 1977 film, but distilling reference material into new things is still an essential part of the franchise’s fabric.
Case in point: some new concept art has revealed that Leia’s lightsaber from The Rise of Skywalker was inspired by an art deco lamp. Check out the artwork below. Read More »
Plenty of details about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker have been revealed in supplementary materials like the Visual Dictionary companion book and the novelization of the final chapter of the Skywalker saga. Now yet another detail has been revealed about a much-discussed and perplexing moment from the end of the film.
In the final moments of The Rise of Skywalker, when the Resistance is celebrating victory over the First Order, Jannah (Naomi Ackie), the former First Order Stormtrooper turned revolutionary, sits down to meet Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams). The scene brought about one of two readings. Either Lando was hitting on Jannah, which felt really weird, or there may have been a hint that Jannah was Lando’s daughter. Well, The Rise of Skywalker novelization seems to debunk both of those assumptions. Read More »
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker brings back a lot of characters from the original trilogy and features plenty of nostalgic references to the history of the sci-fi saga. However, there’s one particular character return that you almost certainly never noticed, and like a lot of the additional details about The Rise of Skywalker these days, the revelation came from supplementary sources and materials. The character in question is a bounty hunter from The Empire Strikes Back, and believe me when I say you will be perplexed by the manner in which this character has returned. Read More »
Even though the Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker book provides some fascinating insights into the creation of various characters, ships, props and locations of the movie, due to the sensitive nature of certain elements in the final chapter of the Skywalker saga, it’s missing concept art that fans have really wanted to see. Thankfully, Lucasfilm creative art manager Phil Szostak has revealed some of the unseen Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker concept art featuring alternate designs for the Dark Side version of Rey, the double-bladed lightsaber she wields, and even the new lightsaber revealed in the final scene, which almost included an added throwback to both the prequels and the original trilogy. Cool Posts From Around the Web:
When a Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer debuted at Star Wars Celebration last August (what a comparatively simpler time!), fans lost their minds at one particularly explosive piece of imagery: Daisy Ridley‘s Rey, hooded in dark robes, wielding a red double-bladed lightsaber which flipped up to create a dual blade.
Now, as the film approaches its upcoming release on Disney+, one of the artists who worked on the film has shared some more Dark Rey concept art – including an image of Rey with a Kylo Ren-style mask. Check it out below. Read More »
