Han Solo is coming back to movie screens, and it won’t just be through the return of Harrison Ford to the role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Lucasfilm is also developing a Star Wars Anthology movie focused on a younger Han Solo. And, given that the Star Wars prequels featured a very young, perhaps too-young Anakin Skywalker, we’ve wondered what the story will be for the Han Solo film, and how old he’ll be.
While we still don’t know the story for the film that Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie, 21 Jump Street) will direct for a 2018 release, we do know that Han will likely be in his late teens or early ’20s in that film. Kathleen Kennedy of Lucasfilm has a lot to say about the spin-off, even at this early stage, and we’ve got her comments, along with talk from co-writer Lawrence Kasdan, below. Read More »
Just one month ago we got word that The LEGO Movie and 21 Jump Street directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller would be at the helm of the second Star Wars Anthology movie coming in 2018, this one focusing on Han Solo, renowned smuggler and captain of the Millennium Falcon. But since then we haven’t heard anything about the project, not even wild rumors.
But that changes today as Chris Miller spoke a little bit about the “huge pressure” of making a Han Solo adventure, let alone a new Star Wars movie, and how they’re grappling with the fact that they’re making a “childhood dream” come true. Find out more about what Chris Miller said about the Han Solo movie after the jump! Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
So far the cast assembled for the first Star Wars Anthology film has been an eclectic mix of talent. Felicity Jones has taken the lead role in Star Wars: Rogue One while other cast members include Riz Ahmed, Sam Claflin, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker and maybe Ben Mendelsohn. However, we don’t really know anything about who these actors are playing.
The only tidbit that’s been floating around the internet is that Felicity Jones was the rebel leader of the team assembled to try to steal the Death Star plans in a time period shortly before the beginning of A New Hope. Now a new detail about her character has surfaced that is intriguing, but also potentially hard to believe.

With news surfacing that The LEGO Movie and 21 Jump Street directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller will be at the helm of a new Star Wars Anthology film focusing on a young Han Solo, everyone is wondering just who will play the charismatic smuggler.
Harrison Ford made the role iconic in the original Star Wars trilogy, and he’ll be reprising the role in The Force Awakens. But Ford can’t play a young version of the character without extensive visual effects, so some younger actor is going to have to get in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. The question is who can pull it off?
We’ve rounded up some possibilities, some likely, some not, and some more preferable than others. Check out our list of 20 Actors Who Should Play Han Solo after the jump! Read More »

With production underway on Star Wars: Rogue One, you can bet we’re going to start getting more news about the first Star Wars Anthology film very soon, maybe even with some official announcements at Comic-Con this week.
But in the meantime, a new rumor has surfaced about casting for the next installment of the new trilogy that kicks off with Star Wars: The Force Awakens this winter. Reportedly Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen (Ip Man) has landed a role in Star Wars: Episode VIII, continuing Hollywood’s trend of inserting a famous Asian actor or actress into their biggest blockbusters for more international appeal at the box office.
However, considering the source and what we know about both Rogue One and the forthcoming Episode VIII, we’re not sure if the details of this particular rumor are true. Find out more about Donnie Yen in Star Wars after the jump, but beware of potential spoilers! Read More »
At one point, Breaking Bad director Michelle MacLaren was signed on to be at the helm of Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment’s adaptation of Wonder Woman. However, creative differences resulted in MacLaren leaving the project, with former Thor: The Dark World director Patty Jenkins stepping up to replace her.
However, now it seems Michelle MacLaren may be taking steps to replace another departed director on a different high profile franchise project. News surfaced today that MacLaren has met with Lucasfilm about potentially directing the second Star Wars Anthology spin-off that director Josh Trank left behind recently. More on Michelle MacLaren directing Star Wars below! Read More »
The departure of director Josh Trank from the second Star Wars Anthology film, written by Trank’s Fantastic Four writer/producer Simon Kinberg, was the final stage in a sequence of rumors and Hollywood storytelling that had, for weeks, cast a shadow over both Fox’s new Marvel movie and the in-development Star Wars spinoff. Now Trank has broken his silence on the topic for the first time since the brief statement that accompanied his departure from Star Wars.
At the time, rumors said that Trank had been fired from the Star Wars spin-off, in part due to his behavior and/or performance on Fantastic Four. “None of those facts were true,” Trank said in a new interview this week, “and any of the facts that were true were spun in such a maliciously wrong way.” Read his explanation of the chain of events and rumors that follow, and try to sort out the truth of the matter for yourself.
