But following WarnerMedia’s game-changing announcement of its day-and-date releases for its entire 2021 slate, Reminiscence appeared in a short teaser of the upcoming HBO Max releases this year. Now Warner Bros. has set a new Reminiscence release date for its same-day theatrical and HBO Max debut, along with a tantalizing new teaser that will have viewers reminiscing about a different movie – one by Christopher Nolan. Over a week ago, HBO Max provided a little tease of all the movies that Warner Bros. Pictures will be sending to theaters and the WarnerMedia streaming service simultaneously this year. Every single movie that the studio was planning on releasing in 2021 will get the hybrid release, including The Suicide Squad, Mortal Kombat, In the Heights, Malignant, The Many Saints of Newark, Dune, Cry Macho, and even The Matrix 4. Warner Bros. has bestowed new release dates on two of their upcoming titles, Mortal Kombat and Tom and Jerry. The films are just two of the upcoming WB titles that are headed to both theaters and HBO Max at once, a move that’s sent shockwaves through Hollywood and left some industry folks ticked-off. Once set for January 2021, Mortal Kombat is now arriving in April, while Tom and Jerry has moved from March to February. Meanwhile, the Hugh Jackman movie Reminiscence – which was supposed to arrive in April – has been pulled from the calendar.

Most year-end best-of lists consist of things that have already been produced, released, and consumed. But the Black List stands apart in that it’s all about the films that haven’t come out yet. Created by Franklin Leonard and Dino Sijamic, the annual compilation shines a light on the “most liked” unproduced screenplays of each year, as voted on by hundreds of Hollywood executives.
Not all of these films will get made, let alone made well, but the Black List still serves as a good indication of what projects are being buzzed about. Last year’s list included Transcendence and Rodham; Django Unchained and Saving Mr. Banks were among the highlights the year before that. Three out of the last five Best Picture winners were Black List scripts, as were seven of the past twelve screenwriting Oscar winners.
