If you didn’t get around to seeing Once Upon a Deadpool, the PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2, you missed your chance. The limited engagement played for the last time on Christmas Eve, but that doesn’t mean the holiday cheer from the Merc with a Mouth is over. 20th Century Fox released a new poster for Once Upon a Deadpool at the request of Colossus himself, and the result is not only in Russian, but it makes us want to see an animated holiday special starring Deadpool sometime in the future.

This has been the year of Marvel Comics at the box office, and not just because of the success of Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Beyond the success of Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther and Ant-Man and the Wasp, movies like Deadpool 2 and Venom have raked in a lot of dough as well, and now one more has landed on top of the box office.
Sony’s animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse debuted in theaters this past weekend, and while it didn’t light the box office on fire, that didn’t stop it from setting the record for the largest three-day animated opening weekend of all time for the month of December with $35.4 million. It just barely beat out Illumination Entertainment’s Sing, which previously earned $35.2 million back in 2016. But how did the rest of the box office do? Read More »
Once Upon a Deadpool hopes to be a Deadpool for a wider audience during the holiday season, featuring a heavily edited PG-13 version of Deadpool 2. But is there anyone even slightly interested in such an idea? Even with the bonus incentive of a portion of the proceeds going to charity, this last-minute cash-grab fails to justify its existence.

This is how you remind audiences that a PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2 is coming to theaters this week in the form of Once Upon a Deadpool. We’ve already seen a good amount of the back and forth between Deadpool and Fred Savage, reprising his childhood role from The Princess Bride, but a new promo features the longest scene yet between these two.
For those who don’t know, Ryan Reynolds is fiercely Canadian, and it looks like he’s bringing some of that maple pride to the Deadpool franchise because he puts up one hell of a defense for one of Canada’s most reviled exports: the rock band Nickelback. After Fred Savage makes an off-handed comment about Marvel movies licensed by 20th Century Fox being like The Beatles produced by Nickelback, Deadpool just can’t contain his frustration and he goes on quite the rant.

This Christmas, fans of Deadpool are getting an interesting new gift in the form of a PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2, the R-rated comic book sequel that has become such a success largely because 20th Century Fox allowed Ryan Reynolds to give the Merc with a Mouth his due diligence. But the studio loves raking in more cash, and if they can get families into theaters to give Deadpool a shot with a more tame cut of the comic book blockbuster, why not?
But what about fans who have already seen Deadpool 2? Is this going to be worth it for them to buy another ticket to a movie that has removed the profanity and blood, key selling points of the original version? A new teaser for the re-release, titled Once Upon a Deadpool, provides some insight into how much new material fans will get. Deadpool 2 co-star Julian Dennison recently appeared in an international teaser for the movie, and he reveals just how much extra footage will be in the recut. Read More »
That scamp Deadpool is back with Once Upon a Deadpool, a PG-13 edit of Deadpool 2 that removes most of the naughty stuff, and throws in Fred Savage for good measure. The re-edited sequel will find its way into theaters just in time for the holiday season, netting even more money for Fox and hopefully satiating greedy, gluttonous Deadpool fans who can’t get their fill of Ryan Reynold‘s smart-ass superhero. Watch the Once Upon a Deadpool trailer below.

Earlier this week, we got the official details on the PG-13 re-release of the R-rated comic book sequel Deadpool 2. Under the new title of Once Upon a Deadpool, the sequel will be toned down so underage teens and their families who don’t head out for R-rated releases can get some laughs in around the holidays. But that’s not all, because the movie also has new scenes created as a framing device that will take a cue from The Princess Bride by featuring an unwilling Fred Savage.
Now, the first Once Upon a Deadpool poster has arrived, and it’s quite magical. Check it out below. Read More »
