I’m not going to pretend I know what the hell is going on in the trailer for The Power of Few. What I do know is that it has a few recognizable faces, such as Christopher Walken, Christian Slater, Anthony Anderson, and Moon Bloodgood in some sort of multi-perspective crime caper.
I don’t even know that I believe this is a movie. I think someone just cut a bunch of unrelated GIFs together into a fake trailer. You know, for fun. I want to loop pretty much every moment featuring Walken in this trailer, over and over. Read More »

The story of a guy trying hard to get laid for the first time has been told and told again in many an R-rated comedy, but Ben Lewin‘s The Sessions isn’t American Pie or even The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Instead, it’s a truth-based drama that’s garnering serious Oscar buzz for its star, John Hawkes. The Martha Marcy May Marlene actor plays poet Mark O’Brien, who’s confined to an iron lung thanks to a long-ago battle with polio. At 38, he decides it’s time to lose his virginity, and he enlists the help of a professional sex surrogate (Helen Hunt) to do so.
The Sessions originally debuted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival under the title The Surrogate, and then briefly changed its name to Six Sessions before settling on The Sessions. But whatever it’s called, it’s proving well-loved. Germain called it “truly breathtaking” and named it one of his favorites of this Sundance 2012, and other critics have been similarly enamored. Watch the first trailer after the jump.

The title The Surrogate, to me, immediately calls up impressions of a horror film or thriller, but the movie that has had John Hawkes attached is something else entirely. An emotional thriller, perhaps. The Surrogate is based on a true story and will feature the actor as “Mark O’Brien, a paraplegic polio victim who lived most of his life in an iron lung, paralyzed from the neck down.” But that’s only the setup; there’s quite a bit more to the story than that — it addresses a longing to experience one specific aspect of humanity that such a life would be removed from.
He’s now joined by Helen Hunt, playing the role alluded to in the film’s title, and Moon Bloodgood and Rhea Perlman are on board, too. Read More »
I’ve flown direct from CinemaCon in Las Vegas to WonderCon in San Francisco. The first day presented two interesting panels, one for the Steven Spielberg-produced alien invasion television series Falling Skies and the other for Warner Bros’ big screen comic adaptation Green Lantern. Read the details and my thoughts after the jump.

Terra Nova may be suffering setback after setback, but the other new Steven Spielberg-produced sci-fi series, Falling Skies, looks to be right on track. The alien invasion TNT show is slated for a two-hour premiere on Sunday, June 19 at 9/8c, and the network has steadily been releasing promos over the last few months. The latest one is a trailer/featurette that includes brief clips of stars Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, and Drew Roy discussing the show. Watch it after the jump.

We’ve seen two trailers for Faster, the action/revenge film starring Dwayne Johnson. One was a teaser and the other a red-band that many people complained showed way too much. (I didn’t watch it, but since I haven’t yet seen the film I couldn’t vouch for that accusation.)
This is the first proper theatrical trailer, however, so it gives up more of the story that sees Dwayne Johnson trying to avenge the killing of his brother, which puts him in opposition to a cop played by Billy Bob Thornton and a mysterious woman, played by Maggie Grace. Read More »
CBS Films has released a new Red Band movie trailer from their upcoming action film Faster. The George Tillman Jr.-directed revenge thriller stars Dwayne Johnson as “an ex-con pursued by cops and killers as he sets out to avenge his brother’s death.” Looks like your typical revenge action thriller, but I enjoy The Rock when it isn’t a kid’s film and I’ll see anything that has Clint Mansell’s score.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer now. And please leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Earlier today, I was floored by the footage of Frank Darabont’s television adaptation of the Walking Dead. Unfortunately, I wish the same could be said of what I’ve seen of the Steven Spielberg-produced Falling Skies for TNT. The show — created by Robert Rodat (screenwriter for Saving Private Ryan, and The Patriot) — stars TNT-regular Noah Wyle (ER, The Librarian) and sci-fi regular Moon Bloodgood (Journeyman, Terminator Salvation) as everyday people whose lives are overturned when aliens invade and wipe out 80 percent of humanity. Oh yah, and they fried the electrical grid as well. Fuckers.

CBS Films hasn’t exactly been setting theaters on fire; the company has released Extraordinary Measures and The Back-Up Plan. The company is going for a much more action-oriented appeal with Faster, which stars Dwayne Johnson as a guy out for revenge after being released from prison.
The first teaser for Faster is out now, but does it offer more than just a straight-up revenge tale with a title screen that looks like it was borrowed from The Fast and the Furious? Well… Read More »
