Kingdom Hearts fans know how to wait. They’ve probably played the waiting game for longer than they’ve played any of the Kingdom Hearts games, so these next few months until the release of Kingdom Hearts 3 should be a piece of cake after we’ve already waited 13 years. It’s fine. It’s totally fine.

But wait! Before you go crazy waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 to hit shelves on January 25, 2019, the wait for any and all Kingdom Hearts content will be a tiny bit shorter thanks to a Kingdom Hearts VR experience debuting on the PlayStation VR this holiday season. It’ll be a perfect way to bide the time while we wait to play with Baymax and the heroes of Big Hero 6, who were just teased in the latest Kingdom Hearts 3 gameplay trailer.

Update: More footage of the Pirates of the Caribbean world has been released in a trailer from the Playstation showcase at E3. See the trailer below.

It’s happening. It’s been 84 years, but we finally have (another) Kingdom Hearts III release date. And we won’t let it go if they change it on us again.

The new Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer reveals exciting new worlds from Disney’s latest hit films including Frozen, Tangled, and Wreck-It-Ralph, as well as a sneak peek at Utada Hikaru‘s new theme song for the video game sequel. Hopefully, that will be enough to tide us over as the game gets pushed back once again after being first announced five (!) years ago.

I know, we’ve been getting brief Kingdom Hearts 3 trailers for years now, but that’s just it. It’s been years. The first Kingdom Hearts 3 teaser was released in 2013 — five years ago. Forgive me for not believing we would get this game until we were all six feet under. But, the time has come. We have a theme song. And a new trailer that reveals more of the (extremely confusing) story. And Mike Wazowski!

Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer

It’s finally happening. Kingdom Hearts 3 may finally be in our grasp. And it only took creator Tetsuya Nomura 12 years, five filler games, and four “remixes” for us to finally get a Kingdom Hearts 3 release date. And it’s not even a real date, just an entire year — 2018.

Oh, well. At least we got a reveal that Toy Story will be one of the new worlds that Sora, Donald, and Goofy get to explore in the Disney-Square Enix collaborative franchise. That, new gameplay demos, and brand spanking new graphics that look even better than Pixar’s then-cutting edge film, are breathing hope back into my cold, hollow soul that believed we’d never get a Kingdom Hearts 3 until I was dead. I can wait around for one more year.
