Scott Pilgrim vs. the World in Theaters

It’s been over 10 years since Scott Pilgrim vs the World arrived in theaters. In fact, the 10th anniversary should have been celebrated last year, but the coronavirus pandemic kept audiences mostly away from movie theaters. That’s why this year will see the theatrical re-release of Edgar Wright‘s adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley‘s graphic novel series in a never-before-seen version of the movie that has been recalibrated for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, providing an audio visual experience for the movie that has never been better. Adam McKay and Paul Thomas Anderson Discuss The Big Short

Writer and director Adam McKay made an impressive jump from directing feature comedies like Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and Step Brothers to the real life The Big Short, even earning an Oscar nomination for Best Director and a win for Best Adapted Screenplay. Now the filmmaker who cut his teeth writing for Saturday Night Live will try his hand at the dramatic side of television too.

HBO has given a series order to Succession, a drama that is described as the saga of the Roys, a fictional American global-media family that is not only rich and powerful but also powerfully dysfunctional. It will explore family loyalty, international business, and the perils of power in the 21st century. Knowing McKay’s predilection towards loosely adapting figures from real life politics and media, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is inspired real people behind the scenes of the most powerful media companies in the world.

The red-band trailer for Peter Farrelly‘s Movie 43 leaned hard on the shock factor of seeing big Hollywood stars revel in foul language and filthy jokes, but the poor green-band trailer is stuck trying to sell the exact same product by only hinting at what the NSFW version could actually show. Is Anna Faris asking Chris Pratt to take a dump on her still comedy gold when the word “poop” has to be substituted with a fart noise? Is Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts bullying their own kid still shocking when they have to keep their behavior G-rated?

Eh, truthfully, I think the answer is that none of this looked all that outrageous to begin with. But at least it’s not any less funny than it was before. Hit the jump to see Hugh Jackman, Gerard ButlerKate Winslet, Halle Berry, Stephen MerchantEmma Stone, Kristen Bell, Elizabeth Banks, Josh Duhamel, Terrence Howard, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloë Grace Moretz, Seann William Scott, Jason Sudeikis, Kristen BellRichard Gere, and so, so, so many more celebs in the new SFW trailer.
