A month after longtime Kermit performer Steve Whitmire was fired by Disney, the new voice of Kermit the Frog has debuted in an online clip.
Matt Vogel just made his first public debut as the voice of Kermit, a role that has long been held by Whitmire since Jim Henson passed away in 1990, in a brief YouTube clip for the “Muppet Thought of the Week.”

Steve Whitmire has played Kermit the Frog for 27 years, taking over from beloved puppeteer and creator Jim Henson after his death in 1990. But after nearly three decades of playing the beloved Muppet, Whitmire was suddenly dismissed by Disney, and the job of being green would go to pupeteer Matt Vogel.
Now, Whitmire is speaking up about his unceremonious firing, which he says was because he spoke up about changes to the character that he felt were against Henson’s wishes. Disney and the Muppets Studio have different reasons, however.

Not long after the the video presentation that landed The Muppets a new show on ABC surfaced online after a debut at Comic-Con, we have a batch of new posters for the “more adult” TV comedy series that you’ll likely start seeing around major cities very soon.
Featuring Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and Gonzo, each of the character posters have a clever little tagline, with Kermit’s taking the cake as the boldest and funniest tagline to promote a Muppets production I’ve ever heard. Check out The Muppets TV show posters after the jump! Read More »
In case you hadn’t heard, The Muppets are coming back to television this fall with a brand new series on ABC. Taking a cue from shows like The Office and Parks and Recreation, the series will be a mockumentary style show following the Muppets as they create a new series for ABC. Yeah, it’s pretty meta, just like all the rest of their productions.
The Muppets recently put on a hilarious panel at Comic-Con in San Diego, complete with Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo and more. (You can watch it all right here.) One thing that can’t be seen in the panel video is the 10-minute pitch video that was shown to ABC in order to land the series deal. But thankfully, the television studio has released the pitch video for us all to see, and it’s fantastic.

Even though fans were going crazy over the panels for shows like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones at Comic-Con, one panel that we didn’t get to check out that had equally rabid fans was for The Muppets and their return to television in the self-titled ABC mockumentary series.
We’ve already seen a trailer teasing the promising return of Jim Henson’s favorite creations, but seeing Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo and the rest of the crew take on a panel at Comic-Con is something entirely different. It’s actually kind of magical, continuing to make these characters feel real. So watch the entire Muppets Comic Con panel after the jump and learn some new details about the show too! Read More »
“I interviewed Kermit the Frog.” That’s a sentence I’ll probably be bragging to my kids about when I’m old and gray. On the occasion of the Muppets latest film, Muppets Most Wanted, I sat down with the frog, myth and legend to discuss the sequel. We talked about his isolated role in the story, the incredible spot on casting of his doppelgänger Constantine as well as his co-stars including Ty Burrell, Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais.
But this is Kermit the effing Frog. A Hollywood icon. I also talked to him about his movie going habits, his thoughts on the current state of cinema and if he feels blockbusters will cripple the system. We talked about the on demand generation, his favorite films of 2013 as well as director James Bobin‘s next film, Alice in Wonderland 2.
We also talked about other roles Kermit has been up for, including potential roles as the Hulk or Rocket Raccoon in the Marvel Universe and if he contacted J.J. Abrams about Star Wars Episode VII. It was an eclectic, 9 minute discussion which you can not only read, but listen to, in its entirety, below. Read More »
As the magnificent movie The Muppets gets ready for release on November 23, one of the best behind-the-scenes stories centers on writer, producer and star Jason Segel creating a video with Kermit the Frog asking Oscar-nominee Amy Adams to play the female lead in the movie. When /Film talked to Amy on set, she spoke about the video:
This is something I grew up with and was in love with. When I heard they were doing a new one I was really excited. Jason sent me a DVD where he and Kermit were inviting me to be part of The Muppets. It was really cool. Once Kermit asks you to do something it is really hard to look at him and say, ‘No.’ So I was hooked.
Up until now, though, no one had seen the message. But Deadline got a hold of it. Check out the video and some early thoughts on the movie after the jump. Read More »
A real genius has put together this formidable side-by-side photo collection of Christian Bale and Kermit the Frog. The uncanny resemblance has haunted us all weekend, so we now pass the monkey’s paw onto you, our dear readers. Here’s a sample. We’ve excluded any and all comparison shots from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. If you are “so serious” about those films do not click the link.
