Robert Zemeckis is collecting quite a cast for Flight, his return to live-action filmmaking. Oscar winner Melissa Leo and Rubicon star James Badge Dale are the latest additions to the project, which stars Denzel Washington as an alcoholic, drug-addicted pilot who becomes a public hero when he rescues a troubled flight. However, his own issues may have contributed to the flight’s problems to begin with. Bruce Greenwood and John Goodman are also set to appear, while Don Cheadle, Brian Geraghty and Kelly Reilly are in negotiations to board the project as well.
Leo would play the role of an investigator who believes the pilot is guilty of negligence, and wants to expose the truth about him. Dale is negotiating to play a dying cancer patient. [The Hollywood Reporter]

That Footloose remake that no one asked for and everyone keeps forgetting about (okay, maybe that’s just me) is still moving forward, and we have new images to prove it. The updated version stars relative unknown Kenny Wormald as protagonist Ren McCormack and two-time Dancing with the Stars winner Julianne Hough as love interest Ariel Moore — the parts originally played by Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer.
The new photos show, among other things, Hough looking cute in cutoffs, Wormald looking like a slick city boy, and Dennis Quaid and Andie MacDowell as Ariel’s parents. Check ’em out after the jump.

I know: you’re dying to see images of the Footloose remake, which is shooting now with a cast that includes Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough in the roles originated by Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer. That’s the first look at the two actors in costume, above, which is pretty obviously sourced from the days on which the film’s big prom / dance scene was shot. See a larger version after the break. Our long national nightmare is over! The Footloose remake finally has a cast. Now I can rest easy tonight. Mostly because no one I care too much about is in the movie, which Craig Brewer (Hustle and Flow, Black Snake Moan) is still directing. OK, there’s Dennis Quaid, playing John Lithgow’s role, but he’s been in worse. The rest of the names, each of which is sure to thrill you in different ways, after the break. Read More »
