Last we brought news that eOne and Hasbro were working on a new Power Rangers universe that would unfold in both a new movie and TV show. The new version of the sci-fi superhero team, originally imported from Japan in the 1990s, will move away from the most recent big screen adaptation that came from Lionsgate in 2017 and branch off into an entirely new franchise. I Am Not Okay With This Trailer

If you’ve had enough of big screen superheroes lately, maybe you’d like an origin story for one that feels more like a John Hughes high school movie with all the teenage trials and tribulations you can handle. That’s what Netflix is hoping with their new series I Am Not Okay With This, based on Charles Forsman‘s graphic novel of the same name.

IT franchise star Sophia Lillis leads the series as Sydney, an introverted, disaffected teenage girl who not only has to deal with all the nonsense of high school, but suddenly starts developing superpowers. Sure, let’s try this again! A new Power Rangers reboot is in the works at Paramount, with Jonathan Entwistle, creator of Netflix’s The End of the F***ing World, in talks to direct. The Power Rangers hit the big screen again with a semi-serious 2017 reboot, which featured Elizabeth Banks hamming it up big time. While that film received better-than-expected reviews, it bombed at the box office.
