Paul McCartney may be best known for his historic career in music, but he’s about to take a dip into the filmmaking business for his next creative endeavor.
Netflix and Gaumont Animation, who previously collaborated on Bill Burr’s animated series F is for Family, are teaming up for an animated feature adaptation of High in the Clouds, a children’s adventure novel written by Paul McCartney, Geoff Dunbar, and Philip Ardag. The Woman in Black: Angel of Death follows up, obviously, on The Woman in Black, the 2012 gothic horror film that saw Daniel Radcliffe facing down a malevolent spirit. Part of the appeal of the first film was seeing Radcliffe out of his Harry Potter garb, but the movie was also effective as horror. It doesn’t leave much room for a direct sequel, however. And so Angel of Death moves forward to 1941, when two teachers and their students attempt to escape the Blitz in London. They end up at the Eel Marsh House, where the woman in black waits. The classic genre movie studio, Hammer Films, is dipping back into its history for a chilling upcoming film. They’ve decided to remake their 1957 film The Abominable Snowman about the mythical creature called the Yeti who lives in the Himalayas.
In the original film, a group of scientists traveled into the mountains looking for the creature, but this modern take will have a slightly different spin with more horror elements. Matthew Read and Jon Croker are writing. Read More »
