The Brothers Grimsby, or Grimsby, depending on which side of the Atlantic you call home, certainly sounds amusing enough. Mark Strong is England’s top spy, an unstoppable James Bond type with all of the skills you’d find in a movie action hero. Sacha Baron Cohen is his loser brother, a disgusting soccer hooligan. Naturally, the two of them are thrust together to save the world from a villainous plot of some kind. But in terms of execution… Well, let’s just say that the marketing hasn’t been particularly inspiring.
Sony has released a batch of new clips from the film, as well as a few “red band TV spots” (how is that a thing?), to promote the film’s U.K. release. Hence the Grimsby instead of The Brothers Grimsby. You can check them out below, if that sounds like your kind of thing.

Aside from a small cameo in Anchorman 2, Sacha Baron Cohen hasn’t been seen on the big screen since 2012. And that’s not going to change this year, either, as his soccer hooligan comedy Grimsby has just been moved to 2016. More on the new Grimsby release date after the jump. Read More »
Briefly: The latest Sacha Baron Cohen movie has a talented new addition, as his comedy Grimsby has just recruited Penelope Cruz.
Unlike some of Baron Cohen’s other films, Grimsby is a scripted film about a soccer hooligan whose brother is a secret agent. He co-wrote the script and Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me) is directing. Baron Cohen plays the hooligan, obviously, and Mark Strong is his brother. Also in the cast: Ian McShane, Rebel Wilson and Gabourey Sidibe.
The Wrap reported the news of Cruz’s likely involvement. She’s currently in talks. As for her role, they say it’s most likely a supporting role as a “Femme fatale.”
Grimsby is scheduled for release July 31, 2015. It’s now filming.
The World Cup is paused right now in the rest zone between the Round of 16 and the Quarter-finals. But there’s a new dash of soccer enthusiasm to be found today via Sacha Baron Cohen. The actor stars in the comedy Grimsby, a film about an oafish soccer hooligan (Baron Cohen) who goes on the run with his formerly estranged black-ops agent brother, played by Mark Strong. We don’t know a lot more about the story, but the first look at Baron Cohen’s shaggy look has been revealed, thanks to Eric Idle. Read More »
