Channing Tatum is rated-R for Revolutionary…War, which the first President of the United States, George Washington, fought in for independence from Britain. Jokes (or whatever that was) aside, Tatum will be actually be starring as Washington in Netflix’s first animated feature, an R-rated revisionist historical film, America: The Motion Picture.

Just yesterday brought word that Man of Steel and Watchmen director Zack Snyder has been considering making a movie about George Washington in the style of 300. Inspired by the fact that many of the paintings of the American Revolution hero aren’t far removed from the style of Frank Miller’s graphic novel, Snyder doesn’t think it would be too hard to make that movie.
However, it’s not exactly an original idea. In fact, back in 2009, the folks over at Robot Chicken predicted that the filmmakers behind 300 would tackle the story of the Revolutionary War with a flick called 1776. David Gordon Green‘s career really isn’t that odd. He began his journey as an indie darling, directing intimate dramas with a slightly off-kilter tone. When Pineapple Express came out in 2008, his career took a turn, not a detour. But the director’s two major studio comedies that followed the success of his stoner action-comedy divided his fans. With perhaps one exception, whatever the final result, at least he’s always experimenting behind-the-camera.
