It’s been a while since UbiSoft announced a set of films that includes Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell, with top-notch talent attached to each project to produce and star. But we haven’t seen anything actually go in front of cameras yet, even if Assassin’s Creed seems to be getting close, as it adds actors to its roster.

Most year-end best-of lists consist of things that have already been produced, released, and consumed. But the Black List stands apart in that it’s all about the films that haven’t come out yet. Created by Franklin Leonard and Dino Sijamic, the annual compilation shines a light on the “most liked” unproduced screenplays of each year, as voted on by hundreds of Hollywood executives.
Not all of these films will get made, let alone made well, but the Black List still serves as a good indication of what projects are being buzzed about. Last year’s list included Transcendence and Rodham; Django Unchained and Saving Mr. Banks were among the highlights the year before that. Three out of the last five Best Picture winners were Black List scripts, as were seven of the past twelve screenwriting Oscar winners. Machete won’t be the last time you see Danny Trejo and Michelle Rodriguez working together. The two will be on screen in an indie called Skinny Dip that will likely be produced and co-directed by Trejo’s son Gilbert Trejo. The other co-director will be Frankie Latina.
What’s the film about? The LA Times offers that it would be ” a revenge picture involving a young woman who kills a policeman.” That’s all we’ve got, but one could expect that Michelle Rodriguez would be the young woman.
