Here’s something that doesn’t happen very often: a major financier and distributor has parted ways with a movie just days before production was set to begin.
Megan Ellison‘s Annapurna Pictures has bailed on an untitled Fox News movie that centers on the late Roger Ailes and the multiple sexual harassment scandals at the network, and there are only two weeks left until filming was scheduled to start. The film has an all-star cast in place, including Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, John Lithgow, Margot Robbie, and Malcolm McDowell, and with Annapurna out as a financier, producer, and distributor, other companies are now jostling to take over the project.

Malcolm McDowell is the latest prestigious actor to join the far-too-good cast of the untitled Fox News movie. I never thought I’d be interested in anything having to do with Fox News, but damn it, Annapurna Pictures is piquing my interest by putting together a terrific cast for one of its upcoming films. Annapurna is making a Fox News scandal movie about the female employees who took down former news chief Roger Ailes, and now Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies) and Margot Robbie (I, Tonya) have joined the previously-cast Charlize Theron. Read on to find out who they’ll be playing. Read More »
Men have got it tough. Seriously. There are so many movies making us look terrible. We look like bad guys. Like we’re stupid. Every single movie you can think of has a man in it who is evil or dumb. This is a problem that has to stop! There’s not a single movie out there with a man who is smart. Or a hero. Or depicting someone with morals. We’re always Darth Vader and Kevin James rolled into one and it’s not fair.
The biggest problem is this new Frozen movie. You know Frozen, that movie that came out in 2013 which Fox News says is new. Forget that part of the reason it was such a hit was the depiction of women as strong and independent. The real problem is the men of Frozen are stupid! What kind of message is that? This has to stop! Watch a hilariously off-base Fox News Frozen video below, in which the hosts seem to actually believe stuff like the sarcasm above. Read More »
Considering the massive, well-deserved opening weekend The LEGO Movie just had, odds are many of you got out to the theater and saw it. Hopefully you agree it’s a fun, beautiful movie layered with a couple wonderful and touching messages. However, when it comes to messages the film has, “Anti-Business” isn’t one of them. If you take it literally, yes, the film’s bad guy is named “Lord Business” and our heroes are trying to defeat him. It’s “anti-business” in that way but the character isn’t pushing “business.” He’s pushing ultra-conformity and lack of change, two things actual “business” is usually against.
Fox News however, didn’t quite get that. Varney and Co host Charles Payne claims the film is another example of Hollywood movies (you know, one of the biggest domestic exports America has) pushing anti-business agendas to the nation’s youth. He’s so off base, it’s pretty entertaining. Check out the video below. Read More »
